I was perusing the "General Discussions" section just now and couldn't help but notice that two (2) threads relating to the shooting in Appomattox VA had been closed, yet the thread about "You know you're a mall ninja if..." has remained open for weeks. Now I understand that THR is not a news service, but the alleged shooter in VA was a gun owner, CCW holder, and fit the "responsible gun owner" image up until this point in time. I think a thread detailing a response to this, or actions the rest of the gun community could take to promote our law abiding nature would be more on topic for THR than a 5+ page thread bashing users of vests, EXSAPI plates, gun lights, and everything else so ignorantly deemed "tacticool."
What is the method for deeming a thread off topic? I fail to see how a thread showing our response to a crime is more off topic than a thread showing how narrow-minded some are, and exposing a rift in our community that can only do more harm than good.
Now please, take this with a grain of salt, as I have not been a member long enough to really hold a voice here, I just thought I would see if I could have more light shed on the subject, so I could better understand the dynamics of the site. Thank you for your time and dedication to THR.
