I like the feel of the M2T but I understand they're fussy about running lighter loads, which is important as I need something that will function with them for cheap practice.

Can anyone clarify?

better off using buck shot or slug. bird shot will barely work. Main reason using hi-power load on M2 is, shells are cycle by recoil.

Light loads work fine in my M1Super90 Tactical. I use bird shot in 3 gun matches all the time.
