After spending weeks researching different calibers 270, 7-08, 308, 30-06, 300 Sav., 280 ect.. I finally figured there isn't a whole lot of difference in any of them so I should look for a good deal and not sweat the caliber. Last week I was at the range and the guy next to me is shooting a nice looking single shot. He let me check out his gun it was a SSI made by Mossberg. I started looking around and the gun was going for $350-400. I happened to call Galyan's and they had them on clearance for $229. So I jump in the car head straight to Galyan's. When I get there they had a 223 Rem. and a 308. So now I own a 308 all I have to figure out is what scope to get and which load 150 -163-180 slugs and what powder, primer , case oh lord will it ever end.

Cool!

If I knew of a SSi floating around here for that price, I'd get it in a hurry. Give us a range report when you can.

Are these rifles going anywhere as far as sales volume? I've not seen any marketing for them, nor have I read any reviews. I was intrigued since I first saw them in the Mossie catalog.

My Galyan's also had them for $229. The sales guy said that Mossberg did zero marketing for them, so they were clearancing them out.

I almost bought one in .308, but I didn't like the action - being used to a T/C Encore. I might still have to check one out. I've seen some good reviews doing a Google search. Let us know how yours shoots Mattkc.

I might pick one up at $229, problem is, the only ones I've seen around here are at Wallyworld and they run around $400.
