An odd machine gun?

I've got this weird part. Clearly it's a mag loader.

The previous owner had a Thompson M1A1 and, I found out yesterday, something called a 'Commando Carbine' machine gun. All his guns have been sold so I can't track any info that way.

A wonderful guy at a Thompson site mentioned this mag loader looked similar to that used for the Grease Gun. A Thompson seller on GunBroker said much the same. We've looked at the GG's mag loader, and it's similar, but different.

I understand that there were a lot of 'copy cats' back in the day of these guns. The GG mag loader has a thumb grove on it, to use with your supporting hand as you press down to insert the cartridge.

This mag has a hand-sized grove on it. Almost like a twisted capital S.

Where can I find info on this Commando Carbine machine gun? My searches pull 1911 type details.

I thought info on Thompson's were difficult. This is much more so!

The only one I can think of is the Volunteer Ent. Commando Mark III Carbine.

But it was not a machinegun.

It was a cheap pot-metal casting Thompson look-alike made in semi-auto only.

Maybe a search for a mag loader for that?
