Short / Sully Stocks

We are in the process of making a Short or Sully Stock for shotguns, based on a similar concept to our M16/AR15 Stock. We have several prototypes on the table and are trying to decide on which one will meet proper needs. I am wanting opinions on a preference to the traditional shotgun style stock, or a pistol gripped shoulder stock.

Hi Sully:
I prefer the traditional style of stock on a scattergun........and I really like the Sully short stock on my AR.......a quality product.

I'm moving this thread to the Shotgun forum, where it should get more exposure.

Offer it in both styles if possible.

I prefer a tradition stock for my mossbergs because of the safety location.
I also recently acquired a used 870 wingmaster that I've been thinking of putting a P/G stock on - perhaps this will be the one I purchase - got any previews?

I would like a shorter traditional stock for a Benelli M1S90.

So far we have considered both styles. I realize that a conventional style stock works better on a Mossberg. Pistol Grip Shoulder Stocks tend to be the preference of our training courses, as well as many of us that are SWAT Operators like these because of similarity of other weapon systems that we use such as the M16/AR15 and MP5. So far we have prototypes of both, but we thought we would poll to see what other shooters preferences are.

Sully,
As a Mossberg 500 shooter conflicted between full-stock pistol grip advantages and access to the safety... I've decided that most of the time, after the first "safety off", the location of the safety doesn't matter. But, a short LOP pistol grip stock that allowed just a little bit more access to the tang mounted safety would be a very good thing.
Here's my drill: In the HD situtation, my SG is stored empty chamber, full mag, safety off, hammer down... so all I have to do is shuck and shoot. This works no matter what the grip. No messing with safeties.
In range/training situations, I use my FSPG as if it was a non-PG with a really wide/thick grip. That is, my hand is way wider in gripping the lower and upper. Hmmm. .. well maybe that wasn't the best explanation. OK here's the bottom line.
Do a full stock with a less-vertical PG. More angle makes the Mossberg safety location work OK, and still preserves the holding-up advantage of a PG when needed. Move the thumb later, when sustained shooting continutes.
Well, probably not explained very well...

Sully,
I use an H&K M1 super 90. I prefer the traditional stock for the reason (Which I cannot explain) that my split times are faster with the traditional stock. As an LEO I prefer my shotgun over an AR for entries (thats just me) so I am looking forward to seeing your new stock. If you send one to Yeager for Eval, I am sure he would not mind if it fit a super 90.

Tracy,
I thought Yeager was a Mossberg user. Does that mean if I send him a stock for a Benelli he might get converted?

Sully,
You are good, you read between the lines of my post and figured out I am trying to convert Yeager to Benelli. I thought you might have thought I was trying to scam you out of a stock to fit my gun.

Safety location aside, I think a PG stock would be better for a short stocked shotgun. A little more assist in controlling recoil with the PG and if it is really short it will help keep your thumb out of your nose.
