I wonder why???

I have noticed I have an easier time shooting smaller revolvers than I do shooting compact & subcompact semi autos. Is it me? Is it in technique? Do I just need to practice more?

I have found that revolvers are more ergonomic and, therefore, easier to control. Small autos can be a handfull because of the squared-off grip.

I have found just the opposite. J-Frame S&Ws are awful to me.

Guess that simply proves people are different.

Yeah. I can't shoot a J-frame worth a darn out past a few yards...though mine is one with a 2" barrel and really small boot grips. I'm sure increased sight radius and a more ergonomic grip could help things a lot.

I think some of it has to do with trigger pull. The smaller and/or lighter the handgun is the more critical the trigger pull becomes to hand-held accuracy. While the snubbies may not be the best they often outclass similar automatics. I have also discovered that small blow-back pistols seem to deliver more felt recoil then a revolver when using cartridges of similar power. I have no trouble understanding why some can’t hit the broadside of a barn when shooting one of the ultra-lightweight snub-guns chambered in .357 Magnum.

While I find the grips on a J frame too small for adequate control, the slightly larger grips on a Colt D frame are great and a Smith K frame snubby are perfect.

Everybody has guns that they shoot better than others.

Don't question it, just revel in it. :)

I can't shoot J-frames worth a damn.

Sometimes you have to come back to some guns, sort of like foods you didn't think you liked. I used to not be able to hit the broad side of a barn with a J-Frame. Coupla years ago, I tried Dad's Airweight Chief's Special out again, this time with itty bitty Pachmayers on it. It's not EASY, mind you, but some good work can be done with it. Heh. Dad finally gave in and just gave me that dang thing a few months ago; he still hadn't gotten it back. :)

Qualification is more of a challenge, but I have managed a 100% with it, including shooting from the 25 yd line. (and did I go single action with that little light 2" M37 with full power loads from that range? Yer damn skippy!) :)
