Anyone know anything about the Ruger SxS shotgun?

I don't think it's actually out, yet? I have heard that Ruger O/U shotguns tend to shoot loose after a while. Anyone else heard of this? I'm wondering if the SxS will do the same...
It's a nice looking picture on the Ruger sight, though. It will probably have an automatic safety, which I hope can be disabled.
Of course, I'm sure it's a cast receiver...

It's not on the shelves anywhere despite two years of promotion and advertising.
I've put hands on one, a prototype, at the Grand in Vandalia two years ago. It was not a bad gun but seemed unfinished with the plain silver receiver ala the Red Label.
Ruger guns don't shoot loose. Their locking and cocking mechanism are a little different than other guns. They seem more loose than they actually are.
Auto safeties can be easily disabled. I like them in a hunting sxs but despise them in a target gun.
The question remains whether these guns will ever see the light of day. Based on their track record, it's not worth getting your hopes up. And yes, it's a cast receiver as are all Ruger guns.
Spend the extra dollars and buy a Beretta 471.

PJR,
Going after the Beretta 471 is just what I've had in mind. Wow, what a nice looking gun.
Of course, I'm still trying to decide on 26" or 28" barrels and pistol grip or English stock...

Steve:
You know what my advice is. Go long. Stay straight. The difference in the field with a straight grip as far as wrist fatigue is significant and when the birds flush your hand is always in the right place.
I'd take 30" barrels if I could get them but live quite well with 28 inch.

Last week I asked the question at one of the biggest dealers in Illinois, the reply was "not until next year." No mention of what month in the year.
I posted that info on another forum (sorry High Road, I forgot) and someone from another state replied that he had received the same information.
Not to bring up old wounds, does anyone remember the Ruger XGI? It was talked about for years but never made production. I hope the S x S does better but I'm glad I had Briley put tubes in my Browning BSS.
