I'm looking for some input on the executive planner type holsters. I saw 1 on action direct. It looks like it may be a good alternative for me. Does anybody else make them Has anybody used them? I would appreciate any comments.
Thanx
Jerry

In theory it's a good idea if you're the suit type.
Personally, I don't like them...to many opportunities to leave it somewhere or forget it. I like having my gun on me rather than toting one more thing around with me.
Everyone here knows what the rest of the world thinks about guns...why chance looking and feeling like an idiot when you leave it somewhere.
There are plenty of tuckable holsters or pocket type guns and holsters available.

I've heard this argument before but I have to wonder, if you forget your gun you weren't very aware in the first place. I know a retired cop who carrys a day planner that has his ID, check book, schedule for the week, cell phone, and something that goes bang. He has never forgotten it in the years I've known him.
Along the same lines, my wife carries in her purse. We've been told that's a bad idea too for the above reason. In 9 1/2 years of carrying she hasn't walked away from, or forgotten her purse yet.
If it works for you and fits your lifestyle, more power to you!

I used this type of carry for a couple of years. Worked great. Still have the planner type concealment rig and have given one to my oldest son. He's the suit type, and it has worked very well for him also. I got mine thru a place called Franks Center, saw it advertised in the Shotgun news. I still see the ad every now and themin in the SGN. They have a couple of differnt ones to pick from. Fron inexpensive to pretty expensive. Hope this helps. I've never left mine behind any where I've gone, and nobdy looks twice at these things. :) I carried a full size 45 acp and 1 spare mag inside of mine. :)

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you WILL lose or forget...I'm just saying that there's a much higher chance of something of that nature happening because it's not on your person.

If it fits you and your lifestyle, more power to ya...I don't usually recommend them though.

This isn't going to be my main means of carry. I'm looking for an alrenative I'd like to be able to carry a snubbie 357 or compact semi auto , maybe an extra clip and/or some pepper spray. I've got this side business going. I'm going to have to purchas a daily planner anyways, I thought that his makes sense for an alternative way to carry. I appreciate all the info

My father uses one. His son is not a fan, but dad makes it work--retired engineer (super of plant layout for Rolls Royce), you guys know the type--he has his guns polished to a high blinding sheen, guns and ammunition alphabetized and tracks the inventory on a spreadsheet on his computer.:D
However, with all the grandsons our family has running around, got to get in back in a holster.
Jerry, I've always trained with the weapon on me. The only advantage of a pistol is that it is portable. It must with you to be effective. "Oh, let me go get my gun." IMHO, sort of like seatbelts, pistols only work if you wear them.
Anywho, that is just my opinion. Maybe I'm overly nervous in the service, but I like to wear my pistols, not a big "off-body" fan. YMMV.

I've looked at them a time or two. They're definitely a good form of concealment, but I'd be uncomfortable with a gun that wasn't actually on my person. I have a brief case from http://www.coronadoleather.com that does the same job equally well, but rarely use it to carry a gun: it'd be too easy for a nimble-footed young thief to make off with it.
I'd rather drop a small gun in a jacket pocket than carry a big gun in my hands. That saidâ„¢, I'd rather just carry a full-sized gun openly in a hip holster.

Off Body Carry? Perhaps we should ask Robert Blake his opinion.

I too prefer the gun on my person.
Agree with El T, that's the whole reason is to have on person when need.
I can understand and have been in situations where there is place for off body. For instance I can't carry in a courthouse...but I have been handed a < sack, briefcase, planner> whilst walking to lunch and handed it back before re-entering courthouse.
Lady Friend can't carry into some Fed/State bldgs, She carries on person, but will slip her weapon into a "dictionary" that has a lock and toss in trunk. She looks like a typical "consultant" so its not attracting attention for her to be seen with books, files etc.
This dictionary found at an office supply and rolling around in her daughter's trunk is one also. For safe keeping of <wink> along with her valuables. Well just say daughter goes to school and mom doesn't worry so much when she gets in late knowing daughter has dictionary up front and "contents" on person...we won't say anymore...

When you put a handgun in one of these things it becomes heavy. I bought one and seldom use it. I prefer a good holster. Regards, Richard:D

Hey, I do that. :D
I'm not a big fan of off-body carry, but there are scenarios where it would be a feasible method. For everyday carry, however, i prefer to have the gun on my body.

I have shied away from off body carry. Although efficient, there are times that you have to leave it unattended...called away from your work area, bathroom breaks, etc...If my attire isn't condusive to carrying a bigger piece, I'll start picking one of my smaller guns.
