I need help locating someone. A couple of years ago I read about a gunsmith making single shot barrels to be used on a 1911 frame. One of the calibers he offered was 7.62x39. He was in New Mexico. I think he lived in Las Vegas or Tucumcari.

Please tell me if you have heard of him or know how to get a hold of him. Thanks.

I'd like to find something (besides a SKS or AK) in 7.62x39 to take advantage of the cheap ammo. I've looked at the CZ Carbine. Is there anything else out there????

If H&R1871 is listening...you need to make one!!!

Buy a TC Contender. Please do not destroy a 1911.

I want to say that it was the Clerke Arms Xtender.

FWIW: Single-shot conversion uppers for the M1911 are not new. Major examples have included the bolt-action Pachmayr Dominator and the break-open Springfield SASS.

...and they do not destroy the 1911.

Unfortunately, those manufacturers don't make them anymore. (Still kicking myself for not getting that .308 Win conversion when they were still being made.)
