I have this Remington 1100 20 gauge semi auto with a 20" barrel with rifle sights.

I have seen quite a few 1100's in 12 and 20 but never with a 20 slug barrel. Was this a standard offering? How common was it?
Any information you could share would be appreciated, thanks.

The original standard weight 20 gauge 1100s had a 22" deer barrel introduced in 1969, then the lightweight version had a 20" deer barrel introduced in 1978. I have no idea how common they were, and Remington has also doubtless sold countless 'extra' deer barrels. The rifled deer barrels came much later, mid '90s if memory serves. I have seen several Remington smoothbore barrels that were good out well over 100 yards. Only way to know for sure is try it with different loads.

In the day of the standard weight Remington 20ga 1100's I do not remember them offering this as a off the shelf package. I believe the slug barrels were always sold seperately from the guns.
The slug barrels are very hard to find these days, and even the regular shot barrel for the standard 20ga. has become a challenge to find.

There were a bunch of 870 20 gauges that came standard with both smooth bore slug barrels and rifled slug barrels throughout the years so I see no reason why it would not be the same for the 1100.

That looks like an 1100-LT. If it is, yes they came like that.

Thanks gents, that info helps alot. I had forgot to mention that this one is the standard, not the LT. I took it out years ago and shot about a 100 rounds of hand tossed clay targets with it. It was a sweet shooter for sure.
Thanks again for you comments.

Through later years that is true (not necessarily for the 1100 though) - during the time the standard model was in production they did not do factory combo's .

The one to have is the Left Hand 20ga. The last one I saw on GunBroker went for $1,800.
