Carbon fibre or coated spring steel?

I'm in need of a good bore rod for my handguns, and can't make up my mind whether to go for Tipton or Dewey.
Any advice members might care to share would be appreciated.
I also need a brass muzzle protector for my revolvers.
I'll probably order them through Midway.

Look at Kleen-Bore stainless or brass one-piece rods.
Both are completely bore safe.l
Most come with muzzle guides.

Coated rods pick up grit and become lapping sticks.
Dewey uses a proprietary thread for tips and brushes.
You can't get replacements at Wally-world.

I've used NON coated Dewey one piece cleaning rods for the last ten years as a gunsmith/gunmaker.
Hasn't effed me yet!
I don't like coated ones because if dirt/grit gets embedded in the plastic they turn into a lap.

Thanks a lot.
Yes, I've noted that Dewey threads are not universal.
What are the advantages of carbon fibre?
If any.

This must be a very recent change? All of the Dewey rifle & pistol rods I've owned / used ,still use 5-40 for .17 & .20 and 8-32 for .22 through at least .45.
Have even bought some brushes & tips for the Deweys at Wally-world and they worked.
Go figure?

Carbon? You can beat your kids/dog with it and it probably won't bend!

After a bit of research, most of the rods from Dewey are 8-36, not 8-32. They do also offer them in 8-32. (which all of mine are)
Doubt you'd find any 8-36 tips at Wally.
