''The gun was too easy to access. The other boy knew where it was, and I don't think guns should be that easy to access. I understand that people have guns for their protection, but put them away so kids wont be able to reach them. They are 15 or 16 and they should know better, however they don't. They are curious and they want to show off or whatever. They should not have easy access to firearms.'' (http://www.week.com/morenews/morenews-read.asp?id=2857)

"Shooting leads to benefit" was the title of the linked article, and does not appear to be the opinion of the poster.

what MT said. Also that "They are 15 or 16 and they should know better, however they don't." line really says alot about what kind of behavior this guy expects out of young men - my guess is he'd apply the same statement to a sixteen year old gang banger or car jacker or bank robber.

Around 1821, Ezekiel Baker, the gunsmith who make the rifles for the British Army, wrote that all children should be taught firearms safety so as to avoid tragedies. He was right.

I have said this before but it's worth repeating.
Every damn parent on the planet NEEDS to read the book "How To Gunproof Your Children" by Mas Ayoob. (It's ONLY $4.95 on Amazon. for petes sake.)
Read It, Learn It, Teach It, Live It and there won't be any more articles like this.
In this case it IS for the children.
