If you won a Glock...

...which would you choose?

The range I frequent recently changed hands and the new owner is raffling off a Glock (range time, gunsmithing charges, accessories all earn you one chance).

The drawing will be December 6th, and it is Shooter's Choice for which Glock they would choose to win.

I was wondering which Glock you would choose if you won?

I'm going to take a 3rd Gen' G22 if I win.

Best wishes,

CZ52'

I already have a G17L. If I could have another Glock, I'd choose a G20 (and add a 6" barrel) or a G24 (and swap the barrel for one in .357Sig).

....oh, it's a hypothetical....

Actually, I'm a little new getting back into handguns. I find that Glock seems to be pretty popular, but they have a dizzying number of models and varieties out there. I haven't figured out what all the different models are. One of you Glocksters point me to the compact 9mm....

I'm not a big Glock fan actually but the 36 looks interesting for a CCW gun.

WHY do they have to be as UGLY as a door stop???

JMHO If they had a Stainless Slide and more asthetically pleasing design other than the square block slide, I might actually buy a one.

In all seriousness, I picked the 22 cuz I have a hankering for a full-size Glock and it would dovetail nicely ammo-wise with my 23. There's isn't really a Glock I wouldn't take though. I like 'em all.

I voted other, because the G26 was not listed among the choices, but that would be my choice. It would be a nice companion to the G19 I already own. And I have little personal use for the .40 or .357 SIG cartridges; the 9mm is adequate.

It'll be in the Classifieds for sale or trade to finance other guns.

Son of John
November 17, 2003, 06:35 AM
Stick with the .40 fullsize. Then go to Lone Wolf.com and get a .357 Sig barrel and a 9 mm conversion barrel (and a 9 mm mag) so you can shoot three different calibers with your one gun. The 22 (or 17, 31) is the best ergonomic Glock but that's me.

Or hold out for the 18 and go full auto. Buying the 18 might cost more than all of the others combined.

I agree the 10 mm will probably get the best resale if you hock it.

BluesBear
November 17, 2003, 07:34 AM
I would choose the one i could sell the fastest and still make the most money on so I could buy something I actually wanted.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with a Glock. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Let me know if your range ever raffles off a blued, firing pin on the hammer S&W N-frame. :D

I voted g19 cause that what I did. A local shop has a Glock week every year along with the offering of a free Glock drawing. I put my name in and for giggles I put in my wife's name (double the chance), well she won it. We went to the shop and messed with them and weSHE picked the G19 and now I can hardly get it back from my daughter AKA Gus Dddysgrl.

I did not see the G36 on your ballot. While I am not a great fan of Glocks -- poorer than expected accuracy due to the mushy striker/trigger and loose barrel, but excellent durability, quality and reliability -- I must say that 6+1 of +P 200 grain .45 ACP is a might potent defensive load in a firearm the size of a Glock 36.

Of the 3 Glocks (23, 27 and 30) I've owned the G30 is the one I've kept,
it is true Glockness realized. However I'm fostering a G19 for a cousin
while he gets a legal issue straightened out and I must admit this model
with 15-rounders is mighty appealing.

Although I'd really prefer a G18. The G7 would be a close second. Not much chance for either but at least the G18 is real.

Yeah, I can respect a difference in opinion, but I'd take a free Yugo and see if I couldn't end up with some financial benefit (probably Yugo - junkbox car for Yugo SKS).:D

I guess I can understand why folks don't like them...with those horrible triggers, I can't see how anyone could hit anything with them. ;) .

Nice shooting!

I like to kid about the Glock Rockets, Tactical Tupperware etc. etc. etc..
I get as much as I dish out. I know some die hard Glocksters that call me old fashioned, hard headed and a 1911 snob. Most of then are just bugged by the fact that I usually out shoot them with my old fashioned 1911.
I personally don't have a lot of experience with Glocks. Hell I don't have very much experience with Glocks at all. I do respect the capabilites of the weapons.

My chosen pistol design is the 1911. I don't even like plastic frame 1911.

I used to shoot a buddy's 21 at the range. It really is a great gun and awesomely accurate in his hands. I just can't seem to get the hang of it.
I was allowed to shoot 100 rounds of 9mm through a ?, don't recall the model, one day at the range. I did about as well with it as my buddys 21.
I woudn't have any trouble hitting the bad guy if I needed to.
I am simply many, many, many, times more familiar with my 1911's.

And as they say, with familiarity comes confidence!

Then I go back to the short sweet triggers on most of my 1911 and I'm happy again.

Like I said, If somebody gave me one of my choice, it would be a G21 and I would take the time to master the trigger.
The trigger action on the Glock isn't bad. It is just not what I am accustomed to.

Judging by the target pic you posted, I'd say you put in the time to know your weapon.

All in good fun...

...there are those that worship at the temple of Gaston, and there are those that worship at the shrine of the venerable John Moses Browning.

I am a member of neither congregation. I enjoy my Glocks for what they are. The triggers are a challenge, but they teach me something every time out, as do my other autoloaders.

...and with respect, 7-yds is a widely recognized benchmark for contact distance for self-defense...and one that I practice regularly with all my autoloaders to obtain or retain a level of proficiency.

If you are talking NRA Bullseye type shooting, I think the 1911's have it all over the Glocks...I'm actually aggressively pursuing my first 1911 purchase...just for spite ;) , I may have it move in with the Glocks in the same safe :D .

Glocks and a 1911 living together, what is the world coming too? :p

Best wishes,
