There used to be a thread here related to www.nationstates.net
I wonder whether anyone here still maintains an NS nation?
My main one is Allanea (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=allanea )

I had one, but it died over winter vacation in 2002, I believe. I might start up again, if they're accepting new members.

They are - but if you already had a nation, you could just e-mail/message the mods with its name and ask for it to be restored, they usually do that for you.

Yeah, for a while. I was the high prince of Rhinesland. I'm sure that it's long since dead.

Got bored with it. The game got repetitive and tiresome quite quickly. The only entertaining bit was that pursuing a purely libertarian viewpoint resulted in a fantastic economy with a free populace, but the descriptions thereof always made your nation sound like everything was awful. I found that bit of doublethink ironically amusing.

Did you ever get involved in any of the RPing on the forums?

Nah
Not enough time.
Oh, I'm gonna boot this one over to L&P.
For those who don't know what this thread is about, Nationstates was a cute little online game where you could go start a nation of your own. Every couple of days you'd check the website where you'd have to answer a couple of questions regarding how you govern your nation. They'd deal with various political/economic topics such as nuclear energy, free trade, gun control, freedom of speech, etc.
Depending on how you answered the questions, the description of your nation would change, and it would assign a, IIRC, rating for personal freedom and one for economic strength.

You could also use the forums (for the Roleplaying types out there) for dyplomacy, wars etc.

The creator told me that he intended to make a more detailed version of the game. Watch this space.

Got a new one. http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=nicoladia
No, the motto is not in any known language, although it is vaguely (very vaguely) Latin-and-Hebrew sounding.
Oddly enough, they gave me a crime-riddled, disease-and-starvation riddled, deforested country when I specified Libertarian, Capitalist, Pro-business ideals.
I used to have Rubikk (a Libertarian paradise) and Oligarchus (an oppressive distopia). Probably going to make one more.

When I tried to set up a country, I answered all the questions in order to get a Laissez Faire, free market capitalist, "Libertarian Paradise" type nation and it gave me a socialist nation so I assumed the entire thing was biased and skewed toward the socialist worldview of its creator so I abandoned it since I figure it is a waste of time and completely unrealistic.
