If you are referring the AR-15/M16 mags, there are specific followers for the 30 and 20 round magazines. 99% of the time when someone says "green followers" they are referring to the ones for the 30 rounders and if that's the case, they should work in any 30-round magazine.

I don't think they'll work in Thermold mags. I'm not positive however.

The green followers will not fit in Thermold mags. Maybe you could file them down a bit to fit. I'm not willing to try as my Thermolds have always worked fine.;)

Why are "green followers" such a big deal? Can a quality AR mag follower not be made in other colors?

Not all are green, some are orange, same thing as the green, just colored orange.

The alloy ones in the 20 rounders are just as good as the green followers.
The green followers supposedly offer an anti-tilt design. Making them more desirable. As long as they are $1 might as well put them in your mags.

I've been meaning to buy a lot of them; does anyone know a website where you can order a couple dozen at a time?

CMMG has them; see www.cmmginc.com That said, most of the commentary relative to black vs. green vs. orange vs. aluminum followers is just hokum. There was some very limited issues with the black followers in full-auto mode----no problems at all in semi-auto mode.

Took the carbine today to check them out.
Fired 100 rounds from 5 different mags and had no problems.
With the same mags and original carriers, I had some nose dives.
So........ Y'all do the math. I'm happy with the green ones.:D
PS. CDNN has'em for a dollar each.

The problem was NOT only with full-auto guns. Like the previous post, of the 30-odd magazines I had, 6 of them failed prior to green followers, none after. This is with semi-auto function. Of course, I had bought my surplus before the ban. There was probably a reason why they were surplussed! No problems now.
You only need the standard aluminum or old black plastic followers for the 20 rounders. The design of the 20 rounders does not necessitate the green followers. I'd get an extra-power magazine spring for them if you intend to shoot them competition. I've had a few failures prior to replacing the springs. Mostly with my new DCM upper and match loads.
