Can't delete my own posts?

On a couple of occasions I have attempted to delete a post that I have put up, but a message comes up that says I do not have permission to access that page. Why not? It's my own post.

Why not? Because if it's the first post in the thread, you'll delete the entire thread, including everyone else's posts too.
Easiest way to fix it is simply to edit your post down to a single character (usually just a . ) and then a moderator will delete it entirely for you when they notice it.
