Hey guys I just got a 5.56 to mainly just have fun with but I need to kill a bunch of coyotes on the cattle farm also. Would like to get a red dot but I think I will probably need at least 3x magnification. Probably won't take a shot over 100 yards for the coyotes. I'm not sure if the 1x power red dots will be enough for that? Budget needs to be around $100 thats how a came across the ncstar product with 3x mag. Are their products any good? $200 is the max. Any suggestions and help will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd go with a Nikon Prostaff or possibly try out those redfields the gun rags have been pimping. Your better off getting one of these if thats your whole budget, those cheap 6-100X23 scopes NC star makes.
At time you see good reviews, but I think thats someone trying to pump up their product. I baught a Simmons 3-9X50 for like 20 bucks a long while back, I'm reluctant to put it on the kids Rossi break open .22.

I've used their red dot sight before and I was not impressed. But I just purchased their rail mountable light and it is well worth the money IMO. I went and bought another one.

I have got some pretty nice used scopes for the price you are looking to spend. I'd pull one off another gun I had or go with the irons until I could find a nice one.

It's only 100 yards, use your iron sights, at least until you can afford a decent optic.
