Could the supressor also have an effect on the cycling of the gun?

Not sure if I am "bucko" but image stabilization was not what I was referring too. Houses on both sides, (residential area) and no back stop is what I was referring to. Not the safest setup by far. Looked fun though.

A lot of failures to eject. Especially with the .22 rifle and a few No-Nos with muzzle control. Other then that...Not impressed. And I'm not jealous at all about having a back yard shooting range. I have one myself....They are nice. Handy too...

You'd be arrested for shooting that close to other buildings around here....nice firearms though!!

Well, lets see.
That is a unincorporated part of the county, shooting on your own land is legal there.
We had 1,000's of acres of backstop and were shooting into the edge/dirt, however, since we normally goto the range he hasnt set up a berm(safer, yes) at his property as we just goto the range. This was an exception as the range was closed. Wasnt trying to impress, I could care less, I buy my firearms for my pleasure not yours. :)

Ironman...Here's a cheap backstop for your back yard. I have always feared I might have someone back there in that "1,000's of acres". Soooo...I stacked, on edge, a bunch of railroad ties (used ones) and backed them up with old tires filled with dirt. A way to rid you and your neighbors of old tires...

Thats a good idea. That's my uncles backyard, mine is more residential. I'm on conservation but I wont shoot anything over 22lr subsonic(think pellet rifle velocities)
Ive told him we can build a railroad tie/dirt berm and put some target stands up to it..maybe we'll do it one day. I usually 9/10 shoot at a range.

Tires and dirt are fantastic and very inexpensive.

The RR ties I get are oak. Even .357 magnums only penetrate about 1 to 2 inches into the wood. The tires filled with dirt are there just in case I hit a crack between ties.

Legal vs safe are/can be two separate things. I am not going to convince you of anything, nor would I try. Just be aware that if you post something that is questionable, you will have people express their opinions. That is all I am doing.
The berm ideas are good and worth while. I have built one on my property and it is well worth the piece of mind. You can say with certainty where your rounds go and never question it. I personally have built mine as a dirt berm with old telephone poles on the backside. Less chance of a ricochet then, however infetismal that may be.
