I'm very happy with my new toy...patience in the end pays...

Yesterday I got the 1006 I bought online from my FFL.

The pistol is in incredible shape despite being a LE trade-in...no one scratch, tight as a vault...the rifling and the muzzle look, literally, unfired.

It came with the original box, 3 magazines, documentation and warranty papers.

It has Hogue grips and I plan to buy the original ones from S&W and switch between the two occasionally.

I grabbed a box of Wincheter Silvertips and headed to the range....no one hiccup, smooth as butter, very ergonomic.

I'm in love with this pistol, too bad S&W decided to discontinue the 1006 (I think for obvious reasons...push their 40 S&W cartridge)

The thing is built like a tank...very strong, excellent fit and finish

I paid $501 for it

Here it is...

Nice. When I got my 1911 Elite I spent the next several gun shows buying up all the colt 10mm mags. I wonder how hard it will be to find them for your gun...

Very nice looking example. Mags are a bit pricey. Usually around 30 bucks or more each. What PD is that from? I wasn't aware police depts. used this model.

I don't know exactly the police department (the engraving on the left side of the frame says BPD followed by a number)

The seller told me that, as far as he knew, the pistol belonged to one of the higher-ups and basically never saw any action and it was barely fired for practice at the range.

No signs whatsoever of holster wear nor grips wear....nada.

Glad you waited saturno. Got a good lookin pistol there. The grips are kind of tricky to take off. I bought mine from a sheriff deputy but it came in the original paper box. It was manf. in '94 if I remember right. You can email S&W and they will tell you the guns history. These guns are way better than the glock 10mm.

Nice bear gun ... looks like you could hit a bear with it and knock it dead.

S&W is still producing mags for this gun. Watch Midway and they pop up every so often (when a new batch comes in). I bought 2 from them last year, about $70 shipped.

Looks like you got a good deal. I'd have picked it up, and I already have one. Good thing you held out, or you may have paid $600+ for one that may be in worse condition...

Sweet. Nice gun, better price!

I bought mine for about $600 a few years ago, and had a nick in the frame, so I had the whole thing refinished by CCR and picked up about 6 mags off Gunbroker. Mine came with an original cardboard box. I also placed the Hogues on it (aftermarket, same as yours).

I scored a 1026 a few months back for $585. Love that pistol. I may try to CCW it a bit during cooler months under a jacket. You will really enjoy that 1006. Accurate, utterly reliable, and a lot of fun to shoot!

That is an excellent find! The S&W 10 mm are fine autopistols. I've been looking for a 1066 to pop up locally, but no dice yet.

Most of you guys probably don't remember or were not around when the 1006first came out.....but the grips were recalled shortly thereafter. Smith replaced all of the grips and the new grips had a center punch mark at the bottom of the heel. The bad grips did not. Smith did not take all the bad grips back, so the customers ended up keeping them.

So....you see those bad grips sold at gun shows all the time to unsuspecting customers.

If the gun is dropped on its heel, the grip will break and the main hammer spring will fly out.

Very nice 10mm. It reminds me a bit of the Bren Ten! Wanna see the Razorback? I thought so.

Sigsteve beautiful pistol!!

Is the Razorback rated for full power "real" 10mm Auto ammo without modifications?? (recoil springs, etc...)

I heard that even the modified 1911 frames (Razorback or Colt Delta Elite) are not as strong as the S&W 10mm autoloaders but I don't know if it is actually true.
