Does anybody have any experience, good or bad, with Barska scopes? I have heard rumors that they don't hold up well on something like an 8mm. Appreciate any comments you may have.

Man alive are opening a can of worms.
Some will claim you can get value with an inexpensive scope.
Others say you have to spend mega bucks to even get a useful scope.
I fall in the first group, however I do not own a Barska scope. It also depends on just what you consider Mega bucks.

Buy what you can afford. Are there better ones? Yes. Having a $1,000 scope won't do you any good if you can't afford the ammo to shoot it.
People will be here to disagree with me in 5...4...3...2...

I had a Barska 3-9 on a 30-06. I shot at least 100 rounds through it with no problem. No shift in POI. I upgraded to a used Leupold from ebay. Still have the Barska laying around somewhere. Seemed like a decent scope. The Leupold is definitely better made, but also costs more.

I have a Barska spotting scope. Got it, a carrying case, and a bench tripod for $100.00. It is a 20-60X zoom.
I have no compliants for a $100.00 scope.
I took it to a 500 yard match and compared against a $1000 Pentax.
The image in the scope is a little green. Using the zoom feature I could see significant distoration out side of the center of the image. My Pentax is clear to the edges.
Within the clear field of view (and it was a usable field of view) I could see the color differences between the pasters and the target bull. With the Pentax I could see the paster edges.
These are cheap Chinese scopes, the glass is not as clear as more expensive models, so you get what you pay for.
These are much better than the $100 tasco's from the 80's and 90's. You could not see 30 caliber holes at 100 yards with those things. I use my cheap Barsaka all the time at 100 yards. If I bust it, I can replace it.
For a rifle scope, I would have to look through it.

I dialed one in for a friend. It was easy to operate and seemed like a good scope. Generally a good overall impression. I wondered how well it would work/hold up. He sold the rifle shortly thereafter so I don't know how things worked out.
