Mt moms boyfriend is thinking about selling a old Winchester rifle that he never uses. It's a 1894 model chambered in 30 WCF. The serial number is 3231xx. I haven't personally seen the gun, but he said it's in average condition. Some bluing missing on the receiver, but no rust. The barrel is clean with good rifling, and the wood is in pretty good condition. Any ideas on age, and an average value? I'm working on getting a couple of pictures and some more information.

Made in 1969, My last years blue Book list it at 275 in 100 per-cent condition. I know the prices have gone up when Winchester was sold, how much? don't know . Perhaps someone has the current real life values.:)

The demise of Winchester did not significantly increase the value of those late 94's; your price is still about right. It is a hunting rifle.

BTW, .30 WCF is better known as .30-30, the most common caliber in the 94.

OK, I did a little bit more homework. According to both Winchester and this site: http://www.proofhouse.com/win/index.html the rifle was made in 1905. Any ideas of value with this updated information? I'm still working on getting pictures

Edit: I also forgot to mention it has a octagon barrel

Older 94's command higher prices. I don't have a blue book, but I'm sure someone will chime in soon.

i to have recently been doing research an 1907 Win 94 with an octagon barrel. There are so many variations that with out haveing the gun in hand the price is hard to nail down. but most of what I've seen starts at about 800 up to 2500

I'd bet .30 cents it ain't no 1969 model if it says 30 WCF on it either!
They have had 30-30 Win. stamped on them since before WWII.

The prices on the old '94s have just skyrocketed recently. Your best bet would just be to start with a high asking price and work down.
