CZ's? I'm *slowly moving their way

My regular gunshop has a .380 CZ. (sorry, I forgot the model number and I don't want to guess) Anyway, it has a "frosted" silver (maybe hard chrome??) slide and a black bottom. It looks like a good pistol and the price is outstanding. (*If* it's a good firearm.) Anybody know which one I'm talking about? Nearly everyone I know is saying that CZ's are a great value.
And I like to shoot .380's. Maybe this is another one I need. :) Anybody own one of the CZ .380's, and do you like it?
Thanks,
KR

I believe that you were looking at a CZ-83 and while I have never shot one I have never heard a bad word about them. They are usually talked about with very high regard except the size is rather large for a .380.

If it's new sounds like you're talking about the CZ 83. (http://www.czusa.com/product.detail.php?id=40) I think CZ guns are a great value. They have very consistant quality control and good machining partially thanks to the fact that their secondary business is making cutters for machining.
If they happen to make the configuration you want and the guns ergonomics and controls work for you it's almost imposible to beat a CZ for value. IMHO. But what do I know, I just have one of their rifles. Still drooling over several of their handguns though. . .

Yeah! That's the one. Looking at the picture makes me want to run screaming to the gunshop yelling, "gimme, gimme, GIMME"! Looks like a Sig P232, huh? Somewhere, in the "Drawer Of Never Used Holsters", I've got a P232 holster. I wonder if the CZ will fit?
It IS a little bigger than my Colt Mustang, but still not *too big. Pretty neat looking alright.

Punch Stephen A Camp"s name into the search function. He has a great review on the CZ-83 and other reviews on same style semiautos.

KR.....man its about time :D Ive had 3 CZ83's and will attest to everything youve heard about them..Ill even take it up a notch or three. The 83 is among the favorites of the CZ Clan and is held in the highest regards as compared to other CZ's. They are bloody shooters, accurate as hell, one of the best natural pointing guns youll find, freindly to most hands, have one of the best Trad. DA triggers in ALL OF GUNDOM!....can you tell I like them.
Check out this thread on the little shooters.........we all know Mr. Stephen Camps taste isnt just in his mouth. He has a knack for liking very nice guns that are really nice....not just according to the gun rags and "brand" forums.
Thread about the coolest gun ever made, almost! (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3144&highlight=Range+Report)
Shoot well and jump on it......the two tone your describing is a rarity in itself. Twust me.............:D

The gun you are referring to is a CZ-83. The finish is satin nickel. I have one of these little gems in .380 ACP. Good shooter. Like all CZ's they're built like tanks and very reliable. The only problem I've had with mine is the safety took a chunk out of my thumb knuckle. Changed my grip and no more problems. You can spend more money on a gun but you won't get more gun for your money.

The tag on the CZ says, "Rare two-tone model". It really IS PRETTY.

Hi to everyone. My first post here. Yes, CZ-83 in chrome finish. I have a blued CZ-83 I bought "used" 2 yrs ago and have had pretty good luck with. It was in a box with cosmolene in & on the action, originally imported by Interarms and marked Czechoslovakia, so it predates CZ-USA and the Czech Republic. I believe it was unsold surplus stock that a distributor sold off to my local dealer (he does a lot of that). It didn't like to feed Hornady 90 grain XTP's but works well with anything rounded. Really easy to field strip & keep clean. Good luck & good shooting.

Actually the one KR is looking at is a Satin Nickel gun. When Magnum research imported them..they had a few hard chromed. They are more rare than the two tone KR found.
Get it , shoot it, shoot it some more......enjoy it.....................
Shoot well..............

KR,
I like mine.
A lot.
IF you get this two tone CZ-83, you'll probably enjoy shooting the little 9 as well.
But ya gotta ask yourself "Why?" And if you have any other answer than "Why Not?" don't get it. Just another caliber you'll have to buy, ammo's not cheap, guns too big, too heavy, other 9 mm's are smaller and shoot bigger, etc.
Those are all the reasons my friends gave me... until they shoot it.
Then they say things like, "Pretty accurate isn't it?" "Fun too." "How much did it cost?"
Adios
