Magazine capacity

with growing numbers of high capacity autos, why are 1911s and P220s still sought after? this is not meant as a caliber debate. i really like my 1911 and 220 but admittedly feel intimidated by the hi caps out there. no offense, but are we stuck in the mud with the revolver guys?

P220s are slim and light, thus comfy to conceal.

1911s are iconic, customizable, super-accurate, and last forever.

And revolvers are - in a general sense - inherently reliable and will never jam.

Does that answer your question?:)

I own a Glock 17 myself, but still appreciate the non hi-caps out there. Although double-stack is a great benefit, no one is going to need a whole mag's worth of one in any daily life risk, unless one's daily life revolves around kicking in doors in war zones. Since that gives us more ways and choice in how we may want to carry, we have more options.

find a double column .45 that fits the hand as well as a 1911.

If I need hi-cap, I move to something that can use a 30 rounder.

I have 1911s, I had a P220. I have a variety of high capacity 9mm pistols. I have revolvers.

Capacity is overrated. How a handgun shoots and handles in my hand is far more important to me than is how many shots remain.

My low capacity shotguns do the heavy lifting on the self defense issues.

I am a fan of hi cap mags, but we didn't have much problem shooting matches with single stack 1911s. We did mag changes quickly and became second nature part of shooting.

Having shot both, I can understand why some one would not part with 220/1911.

I currently shoot my G22 with CA legal 10 round mags - and still no problem with mag changes.

If you want to talk about 33 round mags, now that's another topic. :D

I don't quite get the hi-cap phenomenon either. I feel 6 or 7 rds are quite sufficient for personal defense, at least in my hands. Many purchase pistols that are light in weight but will counteract with a heavy ammo count. Not sure what the answer is, but to each their own.....

in a pistol hi cap mags [the ones that extend past the grip, that is] look silly, and in a rifle they interfer with a proper prone position.that being said, you should be able to have what ever magazine you want. Magazine limits are an infringement on your right to keep and bear arms.

Why do some carry a .25 instead of a .45? It's just a personal choice.
