Has anyone had luck with this powder in .223 behind light bullets such as the 40 grain varmint style. Looks like it makes some real fast loads but how well does it group?

I have a great 55 grain load, but was looking for a hot 40 grain load to try this spring.

I have not tried it, but I would suspect it is too quick. N130 is a good powder though. If I were to try a Vihtavuori powder in .223, it would be N133, which is still kinda fast, or N135.

Never tried N130, but I've had good luck with N133 and lighter bullets. As I recall, it's the slowest VV powder recommended for 40 grainers. Also, it gives you more flexibility with heavier bullets, up to the 69s, but I felt it was too fast for anything over 55 - 60. YMMV.

With a burn rate close to AA2015BR, N130 will give you decent performance with the lightest bullets in 223.
There's several loads listed on Reloadersnest.

I have the .223 loads book that shows all the makers loads in one little book. N130 seems to produce the highest FPS. Also, it's not a compressed charge like some of the other fast loads. I would guess that I can get 200 more FPS out of N130 over N133, but not sure if there are drawbacks like bad groups.
