i bought my wife a .38 spc mod 638 sa/da snub nose about a year ago at a gun show and i think they pulld a fast one on me :cuss:or i missed the fact that the barrel is off to the right a bit... it looks to be pressed in and has a bit of meat (metal) from the barrel on one side it has been in my safe for quite some time and i would like to know if it is in fact pressed in?? ive shot 5 rounds through it it seems fine just not str8 ... should i see if S&W can do something for me even though ive owned it for a yr or 2? ive been frustrated over it but have done nothing and i hate to see it:banghead: lol thanks

The barrel is not pressed in.
The barrel is screwed in.
Some current models of S&W use a tension barrel sleeve attachment method, but I don't know if the current 638 uses that system or not.
Every S&W made since Feb 1, 1989 has a Lifetime Service Policy.
They will repair any defect in material or workmanship without charge to the original purchaser for as long as you own the handgun.
Contact S&W Customer Support Center for instructions on how to return your handgun for repair: 1-800-331-0852 (Inside USA) 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (Monday - Friday).
