Cabin Fever! Need to get to the range!

I haven't been able to get to the range for some time. With work, cold weather and bad weather I have not been able to get to the range for some shooting for at least a month. This week is no better! Today we are getting 5 inches of snow and tempretures will be in the 20's all week.

I have a new pistol I would like to shoot and some new handloads I would like to try in my M1A. Anybody else having cabin fever like this? Is it going to get better anytime soon? I'm sure I could get to an an indoor range sometime but I like to shoot rifle at the local conservation range. Not sure when I will get the chance.

I have been spending sometime reloading maybe that will have to suffice until I can get out!

Me too! If this goes on much longer, I'll have to brave this 45-50 degree weather to go shooting! And, I'm serious.:what:

I would love to have 45 degree weather! I don't see coming any time soon. I may have to brave 30 degrees to get out! I will have to do something constructive until then.

Yea, while some of us are pissin' and moanin' cause it's 40 degrees, others have 15 inches of snow and temps in the teens. We should just suck it up and go, shouldn't we. ;)

We did have a little bit of ice on the ground this morning. :D

I've got about 2 feet of snow on the ground with more coming tomorrow! The dogs and I are going crazy!

I'm got the fever too. I had knee surgery last week and before that was on crutches for 2 weeks. I am going through range withdrawal. At least I have time to load more ammo (as long as I'm not on pain pills that is).

it's been close to zero where i'm at, still go to the range though, it's indoor. :D

We had an outdoor IDPA match two weekends ago. Set-up was on Friday, it was in the teens with winds 30-50 mph, SOs shot maybe 3 stages that day. Next day was a heat wave, mid 20's, little breeze, even about 10 minutes of sunshine.

It's warm enough for me to go shooting today. Was yesterday too. The problem is that it has been snowing since this time yesterday, and is supposed to snow until tomorrow morning. I just don't like to shoot when it is snowing.

Thankfully, I can shoot an air rifle downstairs, so thats something. Not the same, but at least I can pull a trigger.

LOL. My daughter was stationed in Minot, ND. I know all about spring weather up your way!

Just got another 16" or so of mixed ice and snow, temps in the single digits to teens at night and right around freezing during the day. Broke down and went to an indoor range last week. First time I've paid to go shooting in quite a while; I felt so violated!

Gonna pick off some icicles from the back deck this afternoon to try out some trigger work and protect what's left of my sanity.

The only thing keeping me from slogging through this crap to my shooting spot is the very real possibility that I might not make it back!

i just open the back door ripp off a few rd's....scares the carp out of the ol' lady!!!!....then i get "TAKE THAT OUTSIDE!!!!!!!".....LOL

Snow, rain and 20 degree temps have kept me from the range for a month or so too. I've found myself thinking about propping up my 50 cal muzzle loader on the back porch rail and waiting for the neighbors cat. Of course that would be "disturbing".....if he had a dog instead of a cat.

You guys need to get a really GOOD air rifle and/or air pistol. All you need then is about 35' or so in the basement, down the hall, out in the garage, whereever, and a stack of old newpapers or some DuctSeal for a backstop. Quiet, inexpensive to shoot, no problems with the neighbors, you can shoot in the warmth and comfort of your home. Before I started going to Arizona for the winter, I would run through 8-10,000 rounds of pellets in a winter back in Wyoming. Good on cats, too. :D

Went to the local range yesterday with my boys. Had a cold wind and it was
a coat plus, hoodie day. Nasty. Got off a few rounds. Had some hot coffee.. Got in some 'bonding" time, then headed for the barn.
Took a power-nap then got ready for the Super Bowl. :)

We still have about two feet on the ground here and the roads still suck. But wait! There's another 10-20 inches on the way tomorrow. At this point I'm going to forget how to handle any of my firearms.

Pfft. Get a Carhartt, gloves, hat, boots, and long underwear. It was a good solid zilch, zero, nada last time I was out (1 week ago).

Though I have to admit its more fun to shoot trap than paper, as its hard to keep the target stands up when you just have to pack snow around the legs. Besides, when trap is going on, the lodge is open and heated! :D

I just sent in my paper work to join the local Fish& game Assn. (gun club) hope to get some time in on the indoor hand gun range then when it get to 40 and light wind hit the out door range.

Last time I went shooting...there was two inches of snow on the range...and no tracks. I was surprised! I expected to see several shooters on the line but, no...the place was deserted!

Maybe I'll get to go this Saturday ( 2/13 ). Grand daughter has a birthday party...but I bet I can make work. :D

Here in Tennessee the weather gives us a break in that we get a little very cold...then we get some more moderate temps. So I reload on the cold snaps...then shoot it up when its warm. I don't often go in the snow. Its just not that long till its warm enough to make it fun.

We don't get cabin fever here. Single digits here and my daughter asked me if I had any empties (referring to aerosol cans, 2 liters, milk jugs, ect.) while I was splitting wood. She filled a couple 2 liters with water got out her .223 and blew 'em up. I couldn't help it, I got out my AR and bounced a couple cans around the back yard.

I went to the local club's range about 3 weeks ago. It was 12 degrees out and windy as hell but I needed to get some shooting in. Also, the movable target holders were frozen to the ground under 5 inches of snow. I think I am heading to the land of restricted mag capacity to shoot at S&W's indoor range this week

Anybody else having cabin fever like this?
Yes, and it's only been three days since I was shooting. It's been raining.
I have a couple home ranges, so only have to walk into the back yard to shoot. I get "cabin fever" if I don't shoot every day or two.:)

At least I had some time to load a thousand .223.

I already went to the range one day in the mid 20's (yes, Fahrenheit) Put about 150 rounds of 9mm down range. Will admit that I was the only shooter there and the two RO's mostly stayed inside. The pistol had a harder time with the temp than I. Lube got cold and started short cycling in the last 50 or so...

Mostly I have kept myself happy with a .22 rifle in the back yard. Practicing offhand shooting. Tried shooting a target for the THR Feb rimfire match today but dusk and falling/blowing snow made for poor shooting.

yeah, that is good practice, unless it's break barrel, they no good on rabbits, Crosman 670 won't get any penetration on rabbits, I tried, :evil:

My wife and I went on a weekend getaway last weekend, and she sent me to their local indoor range for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon. If I'd have known she had that in mind, I'd have put my Mini 14 in the truck instead of just my carry guns.
