Griffon 1911, forged or cast?

From what I understand the Griffon 1911 frames and slides were forged but the new ones are cast. Does anyone know if the Griffon 1911's at CDNN are forged or cast? Is there a way to tell by looking at it whether its forged. I called CDNN and they didn't know but thought they received their shipment about 3 years ago which makes me think they're forged. I heard Sprinco used to carry Griffon but dropped them when Griffon switched to cast. I think that was in 2002.

AFAIK, the CDNN Griffons are forged frames and slides. Also, I haven't heard that the new Griffons have cast frames. What's the source for that information?

Why not call Dave Gregor, President of Griffon USA, at 800-334-3573 in
Fort Worth and ask him?
Do let us know what he says... I bought two Griffons from Alan Dugger of Sprinco a ways back and was also under the impression that Griffon in Africa was moving to cast frames.

I don't think that Dave is around anymore. That is where CDNN got the guns from and they are in the habit of buying leftover inventory and closeouts. Dugger got his from Dave, but that was when Dave was still importing them.

Sounds like CDNN Griffon's are forged then. I sent an email off to Sprinco just for grins. I'll let you know if they respond.

Alan from Sprinco was kind enough to reply to my email. He mentioned that to the best of his knowledge the components are forged not cast. He also mentioned the triggers are not the best but that the Griffon is reliable, accurate and a good deal for the price.
