The man Glock hired Harper to investigate, Charles Marie Joseph Ewert, once one of the company's highest and most trusted executives, was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for contracting to kill his former boss.

As they were headed to a meeting in July, 1999, Ewert lured Glock into a dark underground parking garage to look at a sports car. That's when the hit man appeared and Ewert disappeared. The plan was to strike Glock in the head with a rubber mallet and make his death look like an accidental fall. Instead, despite seven blows to the head, the then-70-year-old Glock managed to fight off the burly wrestler. When police arrived, they found Glock bleeding but Pecheur unconscious, collapsed on top of his intended victim.
