This is my first real rifle since I shot a .22 at summer camp. I've had it to the range twice. Finally figured out how to zero it in. It is a .270 with a Leopold VX-I 3-9X40 scope and is shooting less than 1 inch group at 100 yds. Not having experience with a hunting rifle, I'm quite pleased!!!

Can't wait to get it out in the field.

The Rem 700 ADL is alot of rifle for the money.

The blind magazine has its advantages over the floorplate of the BDL. If you're hunting, wood feels better against the hand than cold metal. Congratulations and enjoy.

My first, back in the early days, was a special order ADL in a relatively new cartridge, 7mm Rem Mag. I had no complaints. Sold it to pay some bills before I went into the service. I was doing some long range target shooting (farm boy budget) with a 4x bushell scope I stole from the gun leftover pile. You would have thought it was a Unertl!

What features does the ADL offer over the standard 700? I saw a used 30-06 rem 700ADL at cabelas and it appears to have a much shorter barrel.... is this standard?

You might check at www.remington.com to see if they say anything about the ADL vs the 700 "Classic"?. The barrel on mine is 22 1/2 inches, I think. Mine is the synthetic stock with a tough matte finish.

There is nothing fancy about the ADL. But, it gets the job done and has the 700 receiver which is a solid choice.
