Let's see what type of terrain we all are working with and where you're at. I'm in California.

That's purdy. You wouldn't like where I hunt. Flat, brushed up, stand hunting.

I hunt a lot of different country, it's all mountains to some folks, but to me, it's canyons and mountains.

I get out east every now and then too, as I want to take a deer in every state. But mostly stick close to Colorado.

Beautiful pics guys. Seems like most of us so far have some pretty challenging terrain. I like that. It makes the hunt more rewarding IMO. Hope there are more pics to come.

Southern IL, in the type of terrain perfect for a 5-400 yards shot and I am bound by the law to use a shotgun and a slug, but alas I shoot it as well as most centerfire rifles can shoot at 100 yards.

Wow, that's some view.

At least in the midwest we don't have to worry about deer falling 1000 feet off the mountain and floating down the river.

You could get in a lot of trouble shooting deer in the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

Yeah I was going to say. I have been there and you can't hunt there. At least it looks exactly like where I went in Yellowstone.

SoCal San Bernardino mountains. You get far enough in and it's nice.

If you can find water:

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z120/Asherdan93/Drop081025071.jpg

And scrub oak w/ acorns...

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z120/Asherdan93/Drop081025068.jpg

You can probably find their beds...

http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z120/Asherdan93/Drop081025062.jpg

Put it all together and you might get yourself one of the California Mule deer variants. You might get into one of our smallish black bears while you're at it.

And a view towards the populated part of San Bernardino county from about 5000 ft. up while on a walk out.

Here's another. Yes, that's a mountain goat. No, I didn't have a tag, plus it was out of season.

Finally, here's one of some mulies running around. I wish the hunting was this easy on public land...
