I dont have my calipers with me and am buying a bushing for a die and need to know what the outside of the neck measures on a loaded .270 Win round. I think it should be between .301 and .306. If someone could check for me and let me know what they are seeing I would appreciate it. Thanks!

SAAMI spec is 0.308". Here's a link to drawings and specs for most cartridges:

I would think in the neighborhood of a .302 to .304 bushing would be a good place to start, but I don't load .270.

I am sure someone here can give you a better idea. Which brass and how thick the necks are will make a difference. You will end up buying more than one bushing, that is almost certain.

Redding list a bushing range for the 270 win. at .299" to.307" Your really must measure "your" loaded rounds neck. Then order a bushing .002" smaller than that diameter. If your going to order with out taking measurement, buy the .299" bushing. Cartridge drawings are maximum that the loaded round will be and is useless as most all ammo is not this large.

Very good advise, but it is almost impossible to guess right on the first try, trust me. Besides, you will want to experiment with different neck tensions. .002 from your neck diameter will be light neck tension.
