USPSA Classes

I was wondering if someone could help answer a question. I am shooting a stock 1911 in .45 ACP in different IPSC/USPSA shoots and am not clear on what class I should be shooting in. I was told once that it would be Limited and then was told if I used 10 round magazines that I would be shooting Limited-10. Are both of these thoughts true? What is the major difference, just ten round magazines?

Thanks.

It is technically divisions that USPSA is broken into..the classes are the level in which you will compete.

anyway..USPSA is seperated into Open, Limited, L10, production and revolver..

Your stock 45..will fit either Limited or L10..both divisions are essentially the same..

L10 the max you can have loaded is 10 plus one..Limited is restricted by 140mm magazine. both have a minimum caliber (40/10mm) for scoring major and minumum 9mm for scoring minor.

A single stack .45 is most competitive in Limited 10. In Limited it would go up against high cap 18-20 round .40s. Other then magazines, the rules are the same.

Thank you very much. That makes it much clearer.

Mostly correct. If he is running a single-stack 1911 in LIMITED, he can have a magazine of no more than 170mm.

If he is running a double-stack 1911 type in LIMITED, the maximum mag length is 140mm.

With either sort of 1911, there is no mag length restrictions in LIMITED-10....just the 10-round maximum per magazine ;)

'Class' is how you do; 'Division' is what you shoot.
