I have a floating aluminum handguard on a Tec-22 Intratec pistol that fell apart after a few hundred rounds of use due to some apparent poor welds. It is a black anodized two part gaurd, a perforated tube, and an endcap that has a welded threaded insert that screws the entire thing onto the barrel (when it is all in one piece). The end cap assembly broke away from the perforated tube that you hold onto. I tried JB weld, but this has not worked well. can anyone recommend a shop that would do small welding job like this?

Any good local welding shop should be able to MIG or TIG weld aluminum.
If it truly is aluminum.
May be a pot metal casting, and you can't weld that.
Just look in the local Yellow Pages for a welding shop.
I can't recommend one, because you didn't give a clue where you live.

it's very likely do-able (I'm a welder/mechanic) but may need to be blasted off the finish for a proper job. sounds worth doing though.

I was planning to have to refinish this anyway, but know little about how to tell pot metal from aluminum. It is a key part to this fun POS plinker though, so either way I hope to at least join these two parts. :)

Might try JB weld.
