If your handgun was a car what would it be?

January 20, 2003, 11:28 PM
My Walther PPK would be like a BMW Mini Cooper S!

Small and subtle but packs a punch, reliable, and well-engineered.

Compared to my S&W 629 which is a Dodge Ram 2500 full-size pickup with a V8 engine ready to take on the heaviest of tasks...

I guess my SIG Sauer P220 would be a twin-turbo 911.

January 20, 2003, 11:55 PM
Redhawk in 44 Mag = '67 427 AC Cobra. Loud, not terribly comfortable, brutal in its efficiency, but the most fun one can have with their clothes on.

Politically Incorrect

My Smith 629 would be like a '67 big block Corvette. Nice lines and lots of power.

My .50AE Desert Eagle would be a Cadillac Eldorado with a 500 cubic inch gas guzzling engine.

My 1911 would be a Chevy Impala...classic American style.

My Kel Tec P32 would be a Chevy Metro..small and plastic.

My CZ would be a BMW..good engineering from Europe and with style.

January 20, 2003, 11:59 PM
Most of my handguns are not car handguns.
They are truck handguns.

January 21, 2003, 12:16 AM
I guess my Beretta 92fs would be a Ferrari.:what: It is sleek, fast in operation and oh so Italian.:D

January 21, 2003, 12:16 AM
What else could my Glock be besides a Hummer?

January 21, 2003, 12:17 AM
Let's see, German, reliable, fun & technologically advanced...I'll go w/ a Porsche 911 GT1 :D

January 21, 2003, 12:27 AM
American industry has yet to come up with a car that has kicked as much European and Japanese butt as the M1911 has.

But it did produce the Jeep. Tough. A load of history. Endlessly customizeable with awe inspiring after market support. Good looking in a boxy sort of way. Go anywhere--do anything--under real combat conditions, not a bunch of made-up tough stuff for an advertisement, (whether I'm referring to SUVs or a certain line of gun here is up to you).:D

January 21, 2003, 12:51 AM
My Beretta would be a carbon fiber Ferrari.

Guns for cars, is it? Hmmm...

Well, for a Luger, it'd have to be something exotic, complex, and un-American. How about a Birdcage Maserati? Maybe that'd fit the Broomhandle Mauser better.

Fer the Ol' Colt SAA, it'd have to be something that's as American as it comes, simple and unstoppable. Therefore I nominate the Tin Lizzy.

S&W M-27/M-28 N-frame .357's are police cruisers like the Ford LTD Crown Victoria and the Chevy Caprice Classic.

Webley revolvers come in as Land Rovers.

Taurus Tracker .41 mag. Medium size, full power, off brand. 1970 AMC AMX with the 401, well-known to be tough to beat.

Magnum Research Big Friggin' Revolver in .45-70. Make it bigger, and if it sticks out, chrome it. Harley-Davidson.

Astra 400/600's are full-power BLOWBACK service guns. Ugly, powerful, and agriculturally simple. AMC Gremlin. (You can get Gremlins with V-8's. 401's a bolt-in. Stand back.)

S&W M-19. Medium size, extra oomph. Ford Mustang Boss 302.

H&K P7. Euro-wierd, but very slick. Porsche 944S Turbo.

S&W M&P/M-10 and related plain vanilla .38's. Chevy Nova/Dodge Duster with the Stovebolt/Slant Six.

Rogak P-18, the bastard Steyr GB in stainless. A Delorian, I think.

All Ruger revolvers are trucks. Probably military trucks. Maybe half-tracks. With one exception.

The Ruger SRH in .454 Casull is a Hemi 'Cuda.

S&W Triple Locks are refined, obsolete elegance. Therefore a 1947 Buick Super Estate Wagon, typifying post-war elegance. I NEED one of these in the worst way:

Fun thread!:)

My SIG P220A would be a Rolls Royce, and my SIG

I guess a Model T Ford in new brilliant colors since my favs are about 100 years old. Maybe even a horse buggy?

SW Revos, Colt Automatics.

January 21, 2003, 12:52 PM
My Sig 228 would be a BMW 5 series, not a full size like the 7 series (Sig 226), but not as compact as the 3 series (Sig 239). However, all undeniably German engineering and oh so fun to drive/shoot.

January 21, 2003, 01:54 PM
An Audi TT I think...

January 21, 2003, 02:42 PM
My Jennings J-22 would have to be a Pinto, given its propensity to slam-fire. ;)
The 1911A1 would be a '57 Chevy; universally recognizable, reliable, and good ol' American steel.
The Glock 19 would have to be any of the currently made sedans; mostly plastic, works well, but no real individual charisma.

"If your handgun was a car what would it be?"

Answer: Heavy as hell and extremely hard to conceal!

Springfield XD-9 - Ford Crown Victoria LS Sport (in Silver Frost Metallic, just like mine). Comfy, easy to use, fits almost anybody, simple to maintain, adequate handling and performance, great value for the price.

Ruger GP100 - Ford F250 4WD (with PowerStroke diesel). No frills, brutally strong, able to handle any load you can fit in it, and almost indestructible.

Ruger SP101 - Same F250, but in 2WD.

Anybody with a Hi-Point? Wouldnt that be a Chevette? UGLY!! But.... It will run reliably for many years <read not forever>.

January 21, 2003, 05:35 PM
My Kimber 1911 would be a big block super duty Trans Am. Smooth, sleek, with a .455 under the hood.:p

My Jennings J-22 would have to be a Pinto, given its propensity to slam-fire.

Now that's funny!:D

January 21, 2003, 08:07 PM
It would be registerd and liscensed by the state:uhoh: Probably be subject to manditory liability insurence and be subject to confiscation if I couldn't produce an up to date liscense and proof of current insurence. :what:
That's just for starters = this is the PRK!:banghead: :cuss:
If my handgun were a car, I don't know _what_ it'd be cause it'd be GONE!

Do we have to get thumbprinted to buy gas in Los Angeles yet? :banghead:

January 22, 2003, 02:15 AM
i think my desert eagle 44 mag would be a hummer, since its black it wouldnt be a h-2 it would be a big black ugly hummer. Pure Power.

Ruger 22/45

Kinda like my 88 Honda CRX Si.

By far the fastest, but it's a blast to drive. Very easy to invest more in upgrades than what it cost to purchase.

January 22, 2003, 10:34 AM
SigPro 2340, hmmm...I'll say a Mercedes G55 AMG.

H Romberg
January 22, 2003, 02:09 PM
Colt Python: No car can compare to the fit, finish, reliabiity, and sheer class of such a weapon. Perhaps an Aston Martin if it were handed over to Mercedes engineers for some reliability tweaking.

How's that for snooty? :D

January 22, 2003, 10:57 PM
would best be described as a WWII Willys or Ford Jeep, or even a later M-38A1 - solid, slabsided, rugged, goes anywhere.

My Desert Eagle? That's definitely a Hummer. Too big, too expensive, lots of power.

January 23, 2003, 11:15 AM
Hi-Power: Old American full size design with power.
Mercury Marauder

Super Redhawk: Big, rugged & born to hunt.
3/4 Ton HD Suburban 4x4 W/Quadrasteer

S&W 696: Mid size, versatile and powerful.
Durango 4X4 SLT

BDA 380: Pretty, Medium size, Fit & Finish, Avg Power.
Audi A6

January 23, 2003, 07:56 PM
1911 = Jeep
BHP = Landrover 88

Pretty much sums it up.

January 24, 2003, 02:46 AM
Hmm, good question. Let's see, here's what's on the cleaning bench as we type.

My Springfield Professional 1911 strikes me as the 2000 BMW 750iL of pistols. Just about as smooth, but without a V-12... and it costs much less.

Walther PPK-S... the 1973 Opel GT of pistols. Looks good, goes OK, small and easy to "park".

HK USP Compact .45's. Hmm... perhaps a 1965 Land Rover SIIA... utterly reliable, built for a rough world, and nothing stops it.

Springfield TRP stainless (with a few improvements). Perhaps one of the 5 series Bimmers might compare. Not quite a 7, but not a 3 either.

Ruger MkII. The Volkswagen Beetle of pistols. But much harder to work on ;)

January 24, 2003, 11:22 PM
If my Glocks were cars, they be made by Toyota and manufactured in Japan..:)

If my HK's were cars, they be made by BMW and
manufactured in Germany..:D

January 25, 2003, 12:17 AM
My Glock 36 would be a 1947 Dodge Power Wagon.
Ugly as sin, but by God, when you need it, You'll be glad you have it!!

January 25, 2003, 01:38 AM
I would say my CZ-75 would be like my Saab 900S, its European and can take a beating (Hitting a ditch at 45 MPH with NO damage!). My Colt Trooper Mark III would be a good, rugged Chevy Silverado for some reason.

January 25, 2003, 03:58 PM
MY Ruger P95 is like my Wrangler. Beat to hell but has never failed me in any way.

My 686 is like the Grand Cherokee. Good looks mixed with function.

January 25, 2003, 11:51 PM
I am partial to Teutonic handguns. I love my Glocks and would kill for a Sig P210, and so I guess my vehicle, a 2003 Audi A4 black beauty, is my hangun equivilant for a car. Like a G19, she is small, quick, and accurate.

January 26, 2003, 06:04 AM
I gotta agree with Archer. 1911s, and BMWs are the best of what's available. Some people may not 'understand them' or may not 'get it' but they're still the best.

My car - 1988 BMW 535IS, slightly customized

My gun - Springfield Stainless Loaded Target, slightly customized
