So I get everything ready for a day at the range, got the Walker, new 1858, & Sharps ready to go along with a couple of others, but something tells me to call the range since they were closed yesterday for some bulldozer work.
Turns out dozer broke down yesterday so its repaired and range is closed today also.:cuss:
Out of town next week so be two weeks before I get to go again.

Hell, all the rain (raining all day today, too), you need a 4x4 to get to our club range. Sux.

Oh, the weather at the range. I haven't become so much a diehard yet that cold, snow, and rain don't matter. In my case, it's not so much the range itself, but the half mile dirt road to the range can become a nightmare in bad weather. I can't wait until late Spring.

Wobble, we have about 1.5 miles back to the range, dirt road but when wet nasty.

I had a great time shooting today. Waked out of my front door to my sawhorse/shooting stand and got to put some holes in some pizza boxes and Coke bottles at 50 yards. One day I'm going to set up some targets at 200 and see what I can do..:)

Try this place shouldn't be to far from you. Not sure of the schedule though.

Man...I'm thankful to have my own outdoor shooting range and not have to pay membership dues. It sure is nice to have the flexibility to do what I want and when I want. The biggest problem is that the weather has been terribly cold here (http://www.cfnews13.com/Images/Weather/WEB_7DAY.jpg). It should be in the low 70's and sunny but that hasn't been the case. While I may miss out on the comradery of complete strangers I do find it to be much more enjoyable being the only one making the noise and smoke. There's nothing worse than standing in a lane next to the guy who's brass is hitting you in the head.

I've got 25,50,and 100 yards measured out from my target stand. I can set up a target 200 yards away, but I would have to go across the creek to shoot further out. I have some more land down the road where I could shoot up to 1000 yards, but I just now acquired something that can reach out that far.

It's loads of fun when my friends come over and shoot, but I need a new gong. It's been used and abused much over the last 15 years..Now we try to aim around the holes in it. :)

My youngest has enough property at her place in MS to put a range up. May have to visit her more often.

Wittzo I'm jealous, got a relative that's in Wyoming and has a pic of him sitting in a hot tub on his back patio with a 30-30 lever gun taking aim at some pronghorns.

I'm in the remote, northwestern Utah desert.
This soil is sediment from ancient Lake Bonneville that once covered 400 miles of the Great Basin. It gets wet, it turns into grease.
There isn't a vehicle that won't get stuck in it, so me and the Blazer stay on the elevated dirt roads. I've seen good ol' boy pickups sunk fender deep in it.
Aw heck, an old guy told me saw an Army tank get stuck in it years ago.
Only a hovercraft might work when the soil is like pudding.
Between the soil condtiions, and the cold and snow (yes, we get plenty of snow in the desert), I haven't been shooting much.
Soon as things dry out around here, roundabout May or June, and the weather warms, I'll return to my favorite long-range haunts.

Anyone make a cap and ball revolver that shoots BBs and runs off C02? Seems like it'd be just the ticket for some indoor plinking! :D

Went to my range a week ago. About 35 so it wasn't TOO bad, although my older fingers get pretty stiff trying to load powder and ball. But that snow covered, 300 yard hill coming in! I was lucky enough to make it in but darn near got stuck trying to get back out. Just have to decide if being stuck at the range with 3 or 4 muzzleloaders, a couple pounds of powder and 200 balls would actually be a BAD thing??!!

We have set up rifle, pistol and shotgun ranges on our property. 200-yard max on rifle range. Only problem is up here in western Minnesota we have 34 inches of snow covering everything and zero temps so looks like it will be over a month before we can get out and have some fun.

Gatofeo, I'm in the North Eastern part of Utah, and it's about the same here. As long as I stay on the well traveled oil field roads I'm ok, but if we pull off the beaten track then it's stuckville, same lake bed. Right now there's too much snow, soon there will be too much mud, then will come the dry and it will be great, unless it rains then we start all over again. Ain't life fun?

Well if tax returns come in like they are supposed to then I will have two new guns tomorrow or Saturday but I wont have time to go shoot them till who know when and my local is indoor so I can't shoot BP :fire::cuss: I might be able to get out to the out door range if our warm spell keeps up.
