Walther P22 fired a few times... now it doesn't???

Brand new gun. Fired it a few times, field stripped and reassembled. Now it will not fire. There are no marks on the bullets. Is this more likely to be a headspacing issue, or the safety not completely disengaging? Or possibly another issue? Thanks if anyone has had this problem.

Its highly unlikely that its a headspace problem. More likely it was not reassembled correctly.
Suggest you follow the manual for disassembly and reassemble it again.
I am puzzled about your comment "There are no marks on the bullets." What marks would you expect or be looking for?

I had one that did something similar, you would pull the trigger and the hammer wouldn't fall all the way down, it was pretty close but not all the way down. I THINK it was a safety problem but I didn't keep it very long after that so I didn't find out for sure.
What marks would you expect or be looking for?
Light hits by the firing pin.

If you are looking for firing pin marks on the bullets, you will have to load the magazine backwards.
I do second Deep South's suggestion that it isn't assembled properly.

check to see if the safety is engaged, and then check to see if the gun lock has been engaged... One of those is likely your problem.

On the rim of the rimfire cartridge, anyone ever called you nit-picky?

Hahaha I got a laugh out of this one! My mistake, I typed this too fast for my own good. I do mean on the rim of the rimfire cartridge. I am absolutely sure the p22 is assembled correctly as I have 2 and only this one will not fire. It is likely that the gunlock has been engaged. I'll test fire tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

You can test fire tonight; just pull the bullet and empty the powder from a cartridge.

after you have fired the gun look at the firing pin indicator (the little red pin on the back of the slide) is it flush or a little bit proud of the hole?my guess is that there is some crud or something in the firing pin channel
