Howdy, Glad to be a part of The HighRoad, I have a Rem. .222 and I believe I saw an artical about using Red Dot powder and a fmj 55gr. bullet for small game. Can some one help me with this or other load for small game use? Thank you kindly. Teton Ted

Welcome to THR, Teton Ted.

"The load" as designed, is for larger cases like '06.

I found another link listing smaller case loads using different powders and cast bullets.

www.leverguns.com/articles/paco/small_charges.htm

I'm sure that there is a safe load for 222 using Red Dot and fmj bullets, lurking somewhere.

4.0 grains of Red Dot will give about 1,400 fps. Max I'd go is 5.5 grains for 1,920 fps. You really should be shooting lead with these kind of reduced velocity loads. If you're going to use fmj make sure the bullet actually leaves the barrel before you shoot another. At least until you know you got a good load.

Haven't tried the Red Dot but 3 grains of Tight Group put you about 1100 fps with a 55 grain jacketed bullet.
