Two Quick questions for PPP owners. The end of the magazine spring closest to the receiver has an orange plastic cap rather than the traditional metal cap. Is that cap simply covering a metal one underneath or is the plastic the end product?
The clerk at the store where I purchased it also said that the spring metal in the mag tube is pretty cheap and that if I leave it loaded (5 rounds) for over 6 months at a time, the spring will go bad and I'll have to replace it. He also added that I could leave a Mossy filled to capacity for years at a time and not have that issue. Of course he also said there would not be a plug in the mag tube either...wrong. Easy to pull regardless.

I wouldn't worry about the plastic follower or the spring quality. I've had mine for over 4 years. It doesn't stay loaded ALL the time, but it's spent quite a bit of time loaded. I also shoot it regularly and have had no issues. If it ever needs a new spring or follower, 870 parts should fit.

Mines been loaded 5 rounds full, even with 3" magnums at times, for many months at a time since I got it two years ago. It still shucks rounds out of the tube with as much authority as it did when new.

Springs don't go bad from compression. It's the cycle of compression & tension release that cause metal fatigue. If you have a garage door and the spring broke, you'll know what I am referring to.

Take advise from the store clerks with a pound of salt. They are usually parrots.

The guy behind the gun counter leaves a lot to be desired regarding knowledge of the Pardner Pump shotgun or any other gun for that matter.

The follower is all plastic and is fine for use.

Most manufacturers are using plastic.

I believe you can get one from Brownell's catalog in steel.

Maybe at Numrich Gunparts,too.

The Pardner Pump is a well built shotgun and sells at a great price.

There is a lot of info here about these Pardners and they are liked by most folks who have them.

I have one in 20 ga. and it's a very nice ,fast handling pump shotgun.

Again, the guy behind the gun counter that sold you the shotgun showed you more about how uninformed he is about shotguns than he thought he was.
