I did a search but found nothing. Is there a drop in .40 barrel for the Glock 21? I thought I saw one somewhere but can't find it .40 would be a lot cheaper to punch holes in paper with.

Glock 20 to .40 yes. Glock 21 to .40 no.

Maybe you were thinking Glock 21 to 40 Super, which is a totally different beast.

Ditto... I believe it is just a G20 option. Your other option is to get a .22 conversion kit. I am not positive, but I'm pretty sure that is available for the G21.

That being said, I have a stock G20 Lonewolf (non conversion barrel) that I regularly drop into my G21, and have had no issues.

I would think you could get the G20 to .40 conversion barrel and drop it into your G21 and shoot away. You'd want to get G20 mags too.

I have been thinking about getting a Glock 21 for a while as well, the only thing that is holding me back is the lack of a conversion barrel. If the Glock 20 can step down to a 40 I don't see why the Glock 21 can't. You would have to use Glock 20 magazines to feed reliably, but that's not a big deal. You can use Glock 20 barrels in a Glock 21 slide, but there is a little too much wiggle room for my taste when you do so. The other option would be to get a Glock 20 slide assembly and to use a 40 conversion barrel for a Glock 20 in it. If anyone does come out with a 40 conversion barrel for a Glock 21 though, I know exactly what I'll be getting next.

I have one that I no longer use. That's the thread over in the for-sale section.

Putting a #20 barrel in a #21 is not so good an idea. The breech face is wider on the 21.

Here is a link to the ongoing thread over on Glock Talk about dropping in a stock G20 barrel into a stock G21.

Desertscout knows what he is talking about. Here is a link to the video:

You are correct that the breech face is wider on the 21, but it still locks up just as tight with the G20 barrel in it.

You can't use the 20 barrels because the 21 has a larger opening in the front of the slide, as well as the breechface difference.

I didn't say it wouldn't fit or that one couldn't put the parts together and shoot it. I said it was "not so good an idea." There are a lot of dumb combinations of cartridges, barrels, and firearms that people may get away with shooting, but are not a good idea for a variety of reasons.

I have shot 10mm with a 10mm barrel in a Glock 21, just to see if it would "work." I don't recommend it.

Heck, once somebody shot a whole magazine of 9mm through one of my .357 SIG Glocks when I wasn't looking. I don't recommend that either.

By the same logic one "can" shoot .40SW through many 10mm pistols but it's not a good idea either.

And for this case, since I have both guns sitting here, here is the difference:

Glock 21 with factory .45 ACP barrel
http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/smaller/2121.jpg (http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/?small=2121.jpg)

Glock 21 with factory Glock 20 10mm barrel:
http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/smaller/2120b.jpg (http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/?small=2120b.jpg)
http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/smaller/2120a.jpg (http://demigodllc.com/photo/Glock2021/?small=2120a.jpg)

You can see there's roughly 3x the clearance on each side of the barrel where it meets the breech face.

You are correct that the breech face is wider on the 21, but it still locks up just as tight with the G20 barrel in it.
The lock up is not "as tight." With the gun assembled and in battery, I can move the barrel with my finger due to the increased clearance. I can't do that on a 21 or 20 with the respective proper barrels.

You can't use the 20 barrels because the 21 has a larger opening in the front of the slide,.
Actually the barrels have identical O.D. They are the same.

I emailed KKM about a Glock 21 .40 S&W conversion barrel and this was their response:

"We have made these in the past but they are not in stock at this time. For lack of interest we will not be making any more."

Perhaps if more people email them about it they will consider making them again.

I emailed other barrel manufacturers about this conversion as well. I have only heard back from one of them so far, Storm Lake, and their response was a little more encouraging. Here is what they had to say:

"We do not currently manufacture this option. If you would like to have your name added to the waiting list, we can contact you if this option becomes available."
