Yes I voted-and I voted never. I read a lot of periodicals and I have never seen a major media outlet-other than The American Rifleman/NRA report anything positive. This goes for TV and radio too. Do we really think the media cares what we think or has any regard for the truth? Seriously folks-other than making ourselves feel better this is preaching to the choir. The only thing that will get the attention of the media is a swift kick in the wallet-reduce their profits-maybe with a boycott of them or their advertisers and we might see some remorse. Hit'em where it counts and we might see some changes.

I voted "Never." If the news media reported the news accurately and fairly, they'd have to get rid of their leftwing, liberal bias.

I wonder if those that made up the one percent are the people working at CNN :)

Bad question. It's not a question of accurate reporting. They NEVER report
it at all!!

I voted "almost never". I do remember reading an honest article-in a newspaper-regarding a fellow in northern Kentucky who was walking his dog around a lake. A bad guy jumped out of the bushes and said he had a gun in his pocket and would kill the dog walker if he didn't hand over his wallet. The dog walker, much to the short surprise of the would-be robber, pulled out a .25ACP auto and put one in the robber's forehead. He was "D-R-T". In this case, the .25 did pretty good.

Do you believe network and cable television newscasts and major American newspapers accurately report the frequency with which legally armed private citizens use their guns to stop violent crimes?
See Story
Always 1%

Almost Always 0%
Sometimes 2%

Almost Never 46%

Never 51%

That 1% has me puzzled too. Put me in the 46% as there are the occasional pieces done (usually when something very public happens and it is too hard to ignore).

Note that the question is not whether they accurately report defensive handgun uses, but whether they acuatelt report the frequency of such use.

I say never.

Go back and follow the link where it says "See Story"... It's a bit long, but a very fair representation of the arguement for/agaisnt concealed carry. There are many good quotes from John Lott, statistics from the Dept of Justice, and quotes from other RKBA people.

On the opposing side, there is an expert on workplace violence, who states his viewpoint clearly and succinctly. When you read the truth, from both sides, it's easy to tell which side makes more sense, and is based in fact, not fantasy and wishes...

Folks, this is the CNS News Service, as in Cybercast News Service, as in formerly Conservative News Service. I would expect this outcome on this poll at CNS.
(Not meant to imply that CNS is a bad place, BTW.)

Voted.

If the media reported positive firearm use and negative firearm use equally, we wouldn't have half the problems we do with the RKBA.

Accurately? When donkeys fly. The media omits SD use of firearms if their story can fly without having mention it. If they do mention citizen SD firearm use, more often than not the person is labled a vigilante. To support their biased agenda they find a police department PR talking head or a hand-wringing sheeple to give an anti-gun/violence slant to the story.
Remember the details of the Appalachian Law School shooting report.

MEDIA REPORT: Students tackled the shooter......

REALITY: Two students retrieved their CCW guns from their cars and threatened to introduce BG to his ancestors.

If there were any doubt as the the media's agenda read Bernard Goldberg's "BIAS". It confirms what we already knew. :banghead:

The Poll is firearm-related, but the problem with the media is not just a firearm issue. Aside from all the various biases, you have folks who have to try to take information, make sense of it, and report it to the public in a manner they feel will be understood by the huge majority of their target audience. More often than not, you have a non-expert reporter, often dealing with a non-expert spokesperson who then takes the information, condenses it in some form where it is then read on the air or put into print. In the end, bad guys look good, good guys look bad, etc.

Heck, they often don't get the basics right on non-gun issues.

And I won't change my mind until they stop calling criminals "the victim". They don't use that term when it's a cop who shot the bad guy.

The broadcast media news is a great source of two types of information.

1. Mis-information

2. Dis-information
