Hello all, I just rescued a little beauty from a pawnshop and it's a JC Higgins 20 gauge (made by High Standard, I think) from Sears. Identification marks are Model 21- 20 gauge, 583.2076 and a code of IE stamped on the left side of the barrel in front of the receiver. Anyone know how to figure the date, and if I can get a manual for disassembly somewhere?

I can't tell you when it was made but it is a High Standard model 200. I have one that I got from my grandfather. It was his second best shooting match gun. I have come across only one other person with one. They are very good shotguns.

Thanks Knight, I'm pretty happy with it myself. Looking forward to getting to shoot it. I just got it cleaned up to my liking and I need to get some shells. It's my first 20ga, so I've got some Wal-Marting to do. :)

I just re-reqad your post and thought your was a model 20, I see it is a model 21. The JC Higgins model 20 (the one I have) is a High Standard model 200. Check with Numrich Arms for replacement parts and their web site will cross reference it to the High Standard model. I love My J.C. Higgins for many reasons not least of which is my Grandfather, and the fact it is a great shooter.
