looking for advice on this rifle. I saw one in an army-navy store near me and don't know anything about this brand. not sure which model it is. it has a 16" barrel with short flash hider. collapsable stock. carry handle with 2 peep sights that are windage adjustable. receiver is marked 5.56/.223
I really liked the looks and have wanted to get an AR for a while now. priced at $725
what say you?

I have a DPMS, works great, has had a few thousand rds put through it. If you like it and it fits what you need, want, or expect, get it.
I also have a Bushmaster (owned by the same company as DPMS).

does that mean that the DPMS is a lower end model? if so, how is it different?

same company owns both?

No, that company is Cerberus and owns Remington, Bushmaster, and DPMS as well as smaller firearms companies.

DPMS is a good rifle. That sounds like a good price considering it is in decent condition.

a buddy has one, and it has done great for him, the only time i have seen or heard bad about them is in training courses, when they are ran very hard, and very hot, in multiple high round count traning days in a class.

You can do a LOT better for the money.. Check out S&W, LMT or BCM in that price range. Any of the three would be much better.

This chart has helped me in my decision making for purchasing my 3 M4 carbines.

If you are an average shooter any of the major manufacturers will do you just fine. There is nothing wrong with DPMS, Stag, RRA, or Bushmaster. Use the money saved to buy ammo or accessories for your AR.

or take a training course, it will be worth more than the some of the parts of any decked out ar.

I am a huge fan of DPMS AR's and their accuracy; and honestly, they are the FIRST company I go to and the first I recommend when looking for a AR-15. You will be happy with your Panther if you go that route.

^ go there and speak with one of their reps live, they can explain to you exactly what that rifle has, then you can decide if that is the configuration you want.
But this is opinion on my part, and I believe RRA, Bushy, Stag, Oly, BCM... all of them make a great gun and you really can't go wrong with a brand name AR.

3 DPMS products and they have all been excellent (M4gery AR-15, Varmint Rig AR-15, LR-308 AP4). Most of the bashers around here have read some chart and have never used one.
