Best stock for 870 Shorter LOP and Recoil Reduction

The main goal is a shorter LOP on my 870 Express Synthetic. On it now are the standard stock with a Supercell, which I like, but it's too long. Somewhere a bit under 13" would be best. This is mainly a HD SG with duty at the indoor and sporting clays range for practice.
I'm kind of torn about trying out the Spec OPs or sticking with a normal youth stock and limbsaver or some such. What's needed, what would I be more comfortable with, what's proven to work sort of thing?? I've scanned through alot of other posts and can't really make up my mind. I'm more of a rifle guy, but I want the 870 to be my primary HD gun.

I gotta say that the Knoxx stock REALLY does reduce recoil!
I have one installed on my wife's shotgun and they do make it so she can comfortably control a 12 gauge. The combination of the adjustable length-of-pull and recoil-reduction just can't be beat in this case.
I, myself, don't care much for the Knoxx Spec-Ops... it gives a very wicked cheek-slap (if you don't install the power-pack accessory), and, I find that pistol-grip shotguns just aren't my cup of tea.
(Aside from my gripes above, I do appreciate the fact that I can fire the Knoxx from the hip and still get the benefit of the recoil-reduction system)

IMHO a conventional style wood or laminated wood stock cut to fit the shooter properly, with a premium recoil pad installed is the best bet.

Unless it is adding additional weight to the gun, Newton's laws say the opposite. It may reduce perceived, or felt, recoil with a good pad and a better fit to the individual; however your body is still getting smacked by that recoil and the effects are gradual over time

I agree with Lee Lapin.
I went another route which I am very happy with, but he is right in the end.
and, recoil reduction is for wimps. man up and shoot the gun.

GunnerShotz,I have the Knoxx stock on my 870. When shooting it would come up and hit me in the cheek but it does reduce the recoil.

What about the Hogue reduced LOP stock?

What about the Hogue reduced LOP stock?
I'm adding this to the poll. I left it out because there's another thread devoted to it right now, and I'm concerned about adjustability to fit with the Hogue. Could it be properly extended if need be (spacers?)?
See, if I can get a more proper fit for me then I'm not as concerned with recoil reduction except for a) getting back on target quickly, and b) handing it off to other family members.
The Hogue would probably be just fine for me for dedicated HD, but I'm afraid it would be less optimizable in size adjustment and availability of recoil pads.
If the Rem youth stock were 12" adjustable to 13" and had a Supercell available for it, I'd probably already have one.
I love the idea of how adjustable the Spec Ops is and the "amazing" recoil reduction everybody seems to concede it has, but I'm very hesitant to move to a pistol gripped stock that requires more unique interface between gun and shooter (less cheek weld, movement of the receiver).

Oops, you can't edit a poll can you?
Consider the Hogue in the discussion anyway. I know this is kind of another general "rehash", but it's helping me make up my mind. I appreciate it!

I have the Hogue 12" on two guns, and I have a factory wood stock cut to 11" with a Pachmayr recoil pad for 11.75" on one of them. All are sure winners for feel for more shooter than any of the other guns they have ever tried.
The Hogue has no business being $60, but I bought them when they were $45.

GunnerShotz, I mentioned the Hogue stock because I'm in the same boat as you. I have short arms and I'm looking for the best solution for a reduced-LOP stock; and, like you, I figure that if I can just get a stock that fits me correctly, the recoil will cease to be so much of an issue (not that it's much of one with the, uh, stock stock in the first place). I'm also running a standard wooden buttstock with a Supercell recoil pad - LOP is about 13.5" and I figure I need around 12-12.5" for optimum fit.
I've read plenty of rave reviews about the Knoxx stock but I think it looks flimsy and (IMO) ugly as heck. I really cannot look at an M4-style shotgun buttstock without thinking about the cheap POS that ATI makes, and which I had the misfortune of handling at a shop once. Felt like it was going to snap in half on the first round somebody touched off. I also have no desire to try and relearn the mount/cheekweld.
As additional food for thought, I just discovered yesterday that Speedfeed makes the Speedfeed IV, which is a solid pistol grip/reduced LOP stock...
I'm mostly trying to decide between buying the Hogue (and then trying to find a synthetic field-length forend to match) or having my wood stock cut down and a grind-to-fit recoil pad installed. Option #2 would probably be easier, but that Hogue stock sure looks like it'd be comfy and provide great grip...
