I need some help spending my tax return. So far Im getting this:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/36_57/products_id/42069
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=566353
And I have a harris bipod for it. Now I need a scope. I dont hunt. Im only going to use this to put holes in paper. The range I shoot at goes to 200 yards. I only want to pay $300-$350 for the scope and rings. I dont care whos name is on it. I just want a quality scope. Also I would prefer it to be matte black. Iv never had a rifle without a factory scope before. What Should I get? Hurry people. My refund is going to be here in 4 days. :D

bushnell 3200 10x40...
nikon buckmaster 4.5-14x40...
sightron s-2 4-16x40...

really, the field is wide open. in your scenario where you need a scope for range use, i think the bushnell is tough to beat.

Thanks dakotasin. I like the nikon you pointed out. It has some nice reviews at midway.

I had excellent results with a Weaver grand slam 4.5-14 Adj. Obj. It was excellent especially for the money.

I concur with all of the choices that dakotasin put forth and will only add Vortex Diamondback to the mix. You could do much worse than any of these four. I would also reconsider the choice of mount and go with the Leupold dual dovetail or deadnutz.

I can't really top that list except to say, don't get the 10x fixed 3200; get the 5-15x variable 3200, and also except to add that the Weaver and Vortex recommended above should also be good. I recommend a "minimum maximum" of 14 or 16 to shoot at 200 yards. It's a ways down yonder....

If you can get the Sightron S2 4-16x42 in your budget, then I recommend you jump on it.

Glad to hear you caught the thief and got your money back.

Not all of it.

Why would you say that one over a SS 10x42mm with rear focus?

For that money, the Sightron S-2 and definitely the Vortex Diamondback.

Check out the Minox brand also, they are new in town, mid level pricing, German Engineered, all aluminum internals, Schott glass, assembled in the U.S. from internationally acquired parts.

Everyone is telling you about scopes. I thought about letting ya know about a good sit to look for them SWFA.COM. They carry about any brand you could think of and the prices are competitive. good luck!

Wow, Minox is now making scopes. Funny because I was just looking at my grandpa's Minox 35 GT spy camera on my desk. I really like Vortex scopes for the money, but anything that has US, German or Japanese glass that is built in the US definitely gets my vote.

Everyone is telling you about scopes. I thought about letting ya know about a good [site] to look for them SWFA.COM.A great site to look at, I use up their bandwidth every chance I get. I would recommend that everyone else do likewise...I wouldn't, however, recommend that anyone buy a darn thing from those lyin' sacks of ****. They attempt to discredit other companies and mislead their customers...so I buy elsewhere. Liberty Optics and Optics Planet have both treated me very well and will continue to get my business and recommendations.

Mav, can you give an example of them doing this? I usually buy from Liberty, Optics Planet and Midway as well, but I would like to hear about this because I was considering a SS 10x

More than happy to...long story short they told a fellow member that Liberty Optics was not an authorized retailer for Zeiss and Premier Reticles. I followed up by asking them myself (I will dig up the E-Mail if I still have it), and got the same response. They also added that he (Scott) was undercutting their prices because of this and it could be counterfeit merchandise. I went on to E-Mail both Zeiss and PR and found out that he is indeed a authorized retailer. Scott is a great, honest guy, that has always given me the best price on any item that he carries (which is his only fault...limited makes/models). He always answers his phone, even when it is a little after hours, and even gives out his cell number (heck I caught him mowing his grass one time...who else takes the time to answer the phone when they are mowing the lawn?). He has offered to give all THR.org members a discount equal to the SnipersHide (something that everyone should take advantage of). He also tests every product make and model that he sells, and will send it back, and refuse to carry it if it doesn't meet his QC expectations. It really ticks me off for another company to try and discredit someone that is a hardworking, honest person and a real asset to the shooting community. Oh yeah, and he saved me about $650.00 on my PRH over SWFA's price!

Okay, the story ended up being a bit long winded...but I am very loyal to folks that treat me right, and don't easily forget those that don't.

Wow, that is pretty low. I'll be sure to use up even more of their bandwidth now :neener:

I have heard that Scott from LO is great. Thats pretty cool that you reached him while doing chores. That is customer service, I'll be sure to order more from them, if they have what I want of course. Didn't know that about the THR discount, was gonna try for the Biologist discount since thats what I'm sort of studying.

Here is a link (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=449569) to a thread that I put up a while ago. Keep in mind that I am in no way affiliated with Scott or LO, I asked him about a THR discount like he gives for SnipersHide, and he agreed, so I told him I'd post a thread for him letting everyone know. FWIW, I think Scott is the kind of guy that would give you that "Biologist discount" if you asked. :D
