I recently read where Remington's plant in Ilion will be shut down for the month of Dec. due to the "weak economy." Letters were sent to all 940 employees. Does anyone know how much of this plant's operation is directed at producing Remington shotguns, barrels, parts, etc.? Thanks.

The economy's not all that weak. Remington's SG division has a very hard way to go. The competition's fierce. Not only does the 1100 and 11-87 have to compete with the fine Berettas and Benellis, while the 870 has to compete with the Nova and others of the Big Four, they have to compete with the millions of USED 1100s and 870s out there.
Remington's present day probs result in part from the excellence of its products.
