Got to shoot a BAR...

I was at the range and a few stalls down I saw a guy pull a BAR out of the case. Naturaly this was pretty interesting since you don't see them around that often. We started talking and he offered to let me fire off a few rounds, I wasn't about to say no.:D
The problem is now I want one, that thing is a beast! 20 pounds and the 30-06 packs a punch. I feel bad for the poor SOB's that had to hump this thing all over Europe, that would get old fast. His had a bi pod so it was pretty easy to shoot, just hold on and rock and roll.

Being on the receving end of those rounds would really suck.

Worst part is, your life is done and over. You are now evolved to your maximum usefulness in this world. From here out, life will be dull. Wanna fire my bolt-action .22LR?! No?! See what I mean?! I pitty you. :neener:

"maybe someday, there will be an AR in 30-06"
I'm going off memory:
Somebody already did it. It was for the 100th anniversary of the .30-06.
It was Cobb Mfg. I think. I believe there were only a 100 built.
Maybe not a true AR, but close enough.
I don't pass up shooting anything. Unless it is unsafe.

Hatterasguy, an others that like the BAR, see the man that carried one
in WWII.
http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=440481
Norm told the time he shot these little deer from time to time,
he had to use his BAR because no one would loan him their
Garand. He shot this one that was running from him, an when
he got to it he didn't need to gut it. Another time he was under
sniper fire running, bullets were hitting all around him, ya that BAR
was heavy, he was running so fast that when his web belt caught
a fence post it ripped the belt in half. He told it didn't even slow
him up, you know how strong those web belts are. He saw a big
hole ahead of him an jumped in, saving his life. After they got the sniper, his buddies told him he could come out. "It was terriable Davey,
I had jumped into a huge S*&% hole, an I was completly covered!"

I guessed I missed out on that AR in 30-06, never heard of it, would be one hell of a weapon to own. only a 100 made, guess someone with my budget couldnt touch one. a slightly beefed up AR 10 platform would be the ticket.

If I remember, the Cobb '06 AR was between 3 and 4 thousand bucks.
A bit much for me.

I'll bet Clyde wished the LEO's of the time didn't like the BAR so much as well. :)
