A member posted a question in a locked thread about the weapons shown in the British TV reality show "SAS - Are You Tough Enough" and I thought I'd throw my 2c in.
The first series showed them using SLRs (FN FAL) I forget the correct Lxx designation, the shooting session was embarassingly carried out with a straight pull Ruger Mini 14 (semi autos are illegal), there was also a weapon disassembly drill involving an AK-47. The Russian girl, who moved to Britain in her teens, had a compulsary class at school on weapon disassembly, and boy did it show, she tore that thing down and re-assembled it like a trained soldier. I missed most of series 2 that was set in a jungle environment, but did note that they were armed with M4s.
It was a very interesting show that re-inforced a couple of things to me:
1. Everyday people can become very comfortable with firearms very quickly.
2. You can never have too much training.
The women "contestants" in series 1 were incredible, especially in their resistance to interrogation where they far outperformed the men.
Did I miss any new weapons in series 2, and how did they make out with those M4s ?
