Also look at the Marlin 795, the marlin model 60, and the ruger 10/22

I like mine, it's accurate and has been pretty reliable.

So far, all I have ever seen for it are the factory 10 round magazines.

they can be hit or miss on quality and reliability. In truth , they are a copy of the marlin model 60 action; but I do like the synthetic stock, and I also like the fully adjustable rear site on them. And since they are only 100 bucks, you may want to think of it as a throw away, if it does not work well.
Or skip the above, and get a marlin mod 60, with a sythetic stock,
and get a super accurate rifle, that you can beat up, and is of course,
the origional. You can usually go to pawn shops, or gunshops , and find tons of marlins used, for under 100 bucks, and if they are not marked under 100 bucks, you haggle to get the price down. Just take along someone with you, to the pawn shop, who knows how they operate; if they sell you a bad/non working one, it is your problem not theirs. At a gunshop, the used rifles have to be tested working good , by their gunsmith, so the ones at the gunshops should be in working order...

Not bad for the price, sort of like a Marlin 60-- but the Marlin is a way better rifle for not much more...

If you can find one, Marlin also made the model 70, same gun but with a detachable magazine instead of the tube.

The current Marlin 795 is very similar in size and setup to the Plinkster, for a similar price. However, the Marlin is American-made and is a magazine-fed Model 60, a gun that's been around for a very long time and is AFAIK the top-selling rifle ever made. You can get parts for it, and you will still get parts for it in 25 years. The "Mossberg International" rifle is an import from someplace.

Mossberg used to make some very accurate, and inexpensive, .22 rimfires in the US. They don't, any more.:(

The 702 Plinkster is made in Brazil.

also on the marlin 795's , you get on the site, and download a 20 dollar rebate
on the 795, and you can get a rifle, with tax, under 100 bucks, for one of the best entry level mag fed 22's you will ever get...

I bought one of these about three years ago. Took it to the range, jammed every second shot. Thinking some factory oil may have been gumming the works, I cleaned it and oiled sliding parts sparingly, then it did the same thing. Didn't matter what ammo or mag was used (bought two spares).

WalMart sent it back to the factory, and a month later I got tired of waiting and demanded a refund from the store manager.

WRT tube-fed rifles, they plain work better than mag-fed, when you're looking at inexpensive .22LRs.

I have only one mag-fed .22 rifle left. It works well, but it wasn't cheap.

The rebate on the 795 is $25.00
