I need help to identify this shotgun bought at an estate sale, I was told it is a Safari 10 Gauge open breech but not sure, the barrel is long at 33 inch. Any ideas?

These are my favorite threads. we should encourage people post unknown guns and see how fast they are identified.

The French also called these "tabatieres" ("snuffboxes"), because the gun opens up like an old-time snuffbox; the same idea was used by the British on their Snider conversions.

FYI, these are extremely rare. They were used in the Franco Prussian war of 1870, along with the Chassepot rifle, Remington Rolling Blocks and Spencer carbines.
