New Haven 600AB

I have this shotgun that my Grandfather left me that has served me well through the years. I have shot probably 500-750 rounds through it in the last 20 or so years, and all I have ever done is clean the barrel and oil it once in a while. Now that my Grandfather has passed I would like to give it a good detail cleaning, to preserve it for my girls. Can anyone please give me some tips on disassembly or point me in the right direction, thanks in advance for your help.

I believe the New Haven 600AB is a re-branded Mossberg 500AB.
Here is a Mossberg 500 Disassembly/Reassembly video (WMV format):

Field stripping is sufficient to clean any shotgun that hasn't been dunked or exposed to genuinely hostile environments like sea spray. The Mossberg 500 isn't difficult to field strip, and owners manuals containing instructions for that are available online- see http://www.mossberg.com/content.asp?ID=520§ion=service .
Best advice I can give is to keep doing what you've been doing with it, as long as you don't over-oil it and let the oil soak out of the receiver back into the wood at the wrist of the stock. Far better IMHO your girls grow up seeing that shotgun being used and cared for properly than having it enshrined and never used.

I totally agree with Mr. Lapin.
With the amount of use that your gun saw, was has been suggested is good.
I have a friend who bought a Mossberg 500 for his son and he decided to take it completly apart and brought it to me, all parts in a bag, to reassemble.
He even removed the safety and it has a small ball bearing and detent mechanism that was a bit of a challenge to put back together.
Got it together nonetheless and my friend hasn't mucked with it since.
So, the suggestions given are sound and you have a good gun to keep in your family!:)

Thank you for the help Gentlemen, it is greatly appreciated! The main reason I want to do a detail cleaning is because it is filthy inside the action. My grandfather nor myself knew how to disassemble it, so it has never been apart in its lifetime.
On a side note I have several other rifles from him that I am going to clean up and use more carefully now that he is gone. One being a 1969 336 Marlin in 30/30, that just this last season I shot my first deer with. Unfortunately he was not here to see it, but my dad says the last time it was fired Grandpa killed a deer with it.
